Borders . .

I know you've seen these borders in various advertisements, and
used in scrapbook pages and cards. I don't know about you, but I
see them and think I want that in a different color or shape.

So today I made my own. I made two different patterns of hearts and flowers and

three patters of stars.

All of them are using the Design Studio and George cartridge. If you click on the names below the pictures you will be able to download the cut file.

Square Punch

Here's two more cards using the 1" square punch. The oval is cut using the George cartridge at 1 1/2" (tan) and 2"(green). I used the scallop oval punch for the blue and white. Both have pop up dots behind the sayings.

Dutch Dare Challenge #1

The Dutch Dare Challenge blog #1 was to use lots of pink on a card.
I pulled out my bag of pink scraps and used my 1" punch to punch them out. The leaves are from the Cricut cartridge A Walk in My Garden.

Peony

My Peony is just starting to open up. It was a nice fat bud Sunday and by Monday morning this is what I see. This one always blooms before the others and they are planted in the same location. I made a bouquet out a peony flower, a couple of the Japanese Iris flowers with greenery and a sweet pea.

With all of our crazy weather I thought that I might loose all of the buds and it wouldn't bloom this year, but it looks like I will have bumber crop of blooms.

Tag You're It!

I found this blog today and thought I would share it. Tag You're It! is a weekly challenge blog to create Tag Art.

Cards

These are cards that I had started and then put away and brought out and put away. It's one of the projects I need to finish. The cards go into an odd sized envelope that I'm trying to use up. Both card bases are scraps from other projects

The image comes from Dover Publications and is one of the ones I used in making these tags. I printed this image out on vellum and embossed it and matted it with white instead of black.

The scallops on both of the cards were done with the corner rounder Punch.
I'm not sure I'm done with this Little Birdie card. I just doesn't look done yet, so it will hang around for a little bit. I punched out the square in the front of the card and one out of green. The bird I cut around and glued to the green.

Steusel Rhubarb Bread

I made a couple of batches of Rhubarb bread with this recipe I found on Taste of Home website. I have company coming so I have several loves that are now in the freezer.
Streusel Rhubarb Bread

This tender bread from Irene Sankey of Stevens Point, Wisconsin has a sweet crunchy topping and great rhubarb taste. "My family asks me to make it time and time again," she comments.

TIME: Prep: 20 min. Bake: 1 hour + cooling
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups chopped fresh or sliced frozen rhubarb
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
TOPPING:
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon cold butter or margarine
Directions: In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and oil. Add egg, mix well. Beat in buttermilk and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into brown sugar mixture just until combined. Fold in the rhubarb and nuts. Pour into two greased 8-in. x 4-in. x 2-in. loaf pans. For topping, in a bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon and butter until crumbly; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350° for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Cut with a serrated knife. Yield: 2 loaves.

Gardening . . .

is a craft, a science and an art. To practice it well requires the enthusiasm of the true amateur and the understanding of the true student.

Author: Louise and James Bush-Brown

I thought I would snap a few pictures while I took Izzy out Wednesday Night. This is the first time the Clematis has bloomed. Between the rabbits and my husband it's had a rough three years. I planted two more last year and one of them is back. It is just starting to get a few buds on it.

I've had to trim my Fuchsia as the wind had beaten it up a bit so I have a lot of starts in the house now. I think I will try and winter a few of them this year.

I took a picture of the iris before I went to work Wednesday morning. The weather called for more rain and I new it wouldn't look pretty when I got home.

For You . . .

I cased this one from Kiyomi Krafts. Since I didn't have any of the products she used, I substituted stamps from From Me to You and the Cricut A Walk In My Garden cartridge.

The circles are cut from George 1" for the white and 1 1/4" for the tan. The ovals are cut 1 1/2" from tan and shadow blackout for the brown.

Recipe: Paper: Scraps of brown, tan, white, dark red, pink Stamps: From Me to You - For You, Leaf and stem, solid leaf, Fou You, Motif Ivy Leaf - Michaels Ink: brown and green Paint: Old Parchment Ribbon: Offray Sheer in green Misc: Pop up dots, glue, Fray Check

For the Guys . .

Since I have so many men in my life I always need some guy stuff. These are two of my favorite guy stamp sets from Close to my Heart.

When I pull out a set of stamps I normally stamp them a bunch of times, especially when I use stazon ink like I did here. They were actually stamped a couple of month ago.

I haven't decided what saying to put on this one, so will wait until I send it out.

The quail was stamped twice, once by accident. I didn't like how the first one turned out so I stamped again then decided to use the first one as a shadow. I like it when accidents turn out great.

October . . .

The pumpkins, cat and candy corn are left overs from another project, and the paper is all from the scrap file. The pumpkins are made with four ovals outlined with markers and glued together. The stems are free handed and outlined in green. I used the Fiskars oval template to cut these out. The cat was stamped in black ink, embossed in clear, and the eyes were painted in. The candy corn was stamped and colored in and then embossed in clear. I havea pop up dot behind the top candy corn. I used All Mixed Up to cut the Oct out.

Love - February

Caardvarks had a challenge in May to make a tag inspired by the month. I didn't participate in the challenge but I like the idea. I am going to make a tag for each month, and I will be using left overs and here is the first one.

The green base is 2 3/4" x 5". I have scalloped two pieces of the fresh Paint Metallic paper (the piece I choose was not large enough to cover the inside of the tag) using the corner punch. On top of that is a green piece from Cardmaker's Earthtones. I have no idea where the small green square if from.

The Heart was left over from another project and I used the Fabulous Finds to cut it out. It is actually from cardboard and sponges with two different colors of pink ink.

"Love" is cut from All Mixed up in white and a dark green. I sponged the white with the same two pink inks as the heart. I used the Shadow feature on the Cricut for the dark green paper. The flowers under the heart are from A Walk Through My Garden.

Recipe: Paper: Textured green cardstock, fresh Paint Metallic, Cardmaker's Earth Tones, Cricut: All Mixed Up, Fabulous Finds, A Walk Through My Garden Ink: Orchid and a dark pink.
Misc: corner punch, flowers, brads, glue and pop up dots

Freinds, Family, Celebrate . . .

I'm trying to finish up a few projects I've started and here is one of them. I have gotten the images from Dover Publications. You can sign up for free downloads. They will send an e-mail and they have all types of images. The one's I'm using are already colored and have the stain glass look.

I printed these on regular paper and embossed with clear embossing powder right away, three times. I then matted them on black card stock and trimmed. After adding glue to the back I slipped on a circle paper clip.

The book marks are cut from card stock 2 3/4" x 5" and each is just a different shade in the same color family. I wanted them to go together but not match and I'm trying to use the scraps. The black paper is scalloped with the Fiskars template and 5" long. As you can see each one is a different width. The background paper is 1 3/4" wide.

I then stamped the frame stamp with black ink on the red, blue and green paper, cut around the outside and inside with and X-acto knife. After centering the frame on top of the Original Definitions which was stamped on white card stock, cut the white paper so that it does not show. I used the pop-up dots behind this so it sets away from the front of the card. Each card is punched behind this for the ribbon.

The letters are cut using the Cricut and the Printing Press cartridge at 1 1/4" and the framed option. The copper paper is actually a purchased card base. I wanted something to go with the paperclip and I didn't have card stock to match. It is backed with a purple textured cardstock.

I then punched and tied the ribbon next to the image in the lower left corner.

Recipe: Paper: Scraps of black, white, purple, red, blue and green, 3 shades of tan cardstock, Cricut paper: Doodlecharms, copper card base Stamps: Hero Arts - Original Definitions of Family, Celebrate, Friends, Heart frame from Whimsical Frames Cricut: Printing Press Ink: Black Ribbon: Offray sheer ribbon and blue ribbon Misc: clear embossing powder, circle paper clip, punch, Fiskars oval template for large scallops, pop-up dots, X-acto Knife, Fray Check

Lilac's

I can't wait for this little bush to actually get big. I have a total of three flowers on it this year and it is the second year it has bloomed. I used a Digital Scrapbooking kit for this page. I cut out the flower in the circle from the picture and added a border. Using the eyedropper tool I enlarged my tag and selected the top part that is pink, then changed to the paint bucket, selected my circle frame and colored it.
