In one of my Kits from Scrapbook Heaven came the paper from Bella Blvd - Flirty - Bits a Bella , which had this saying on it "Always take time to play every single day!" I knew I had to use that saying on a layout of my oldest son and Izzy. She adores him, will do anything he asks, and he is her favorite person.

To start with I made my own white acrylic paint mist - a little bit of white acrylic paint and water added to a small spray bottle. I sprayed this onto the Kraft paper and used my heat gun to speed up the drying process. I have the cutting directions listed below.

I made my own filmstrip in Adobe Photoshop, inserted and sized my pictures and printed them out on 8 1/2x11 photo paper after changing them to black and white.

I made the same layout for my album but I used alphabet stickers for the saying. My Kraft journal strip cut at 1 1/2x 12

Granny Square Afghan

I've been crocheting forever, well it seems like forever. I started when I was little, my Grandma Kate taught me how. She taught me to read a pattern and how to make a pattern from looking at something that was already crocheted.

I have a basket I keep some of the left yarn pieces in. All different colors, types, weights, pieces wound into balls, left over skeins, you name it it is probably in there (I have a ceramic planter for the thread). It's a collection from my mom, both grandmothers and some of mine. As the basket gets empty I pull out another tote (plastic storage box) and add to it. I have totes in all sizes with yarn in it from shoe box size to 30+ gallon size. I've only made two yarn purchases in the last couple of years and that was a charcoal gray to put the squares together and finish the edges. The other purchase was for an afghan for a birthday present. I started a new pattern and didn't have the same type of yarn so I started it with Red Heart yarn to see how it would turn out. It turned into a nice circular piece for my pub top. I'll show you them another post.

For now I want to show you how I've been using up some of pieces in the basket. I've been crocheting Granny Square Afghans with the scraps. I use three strands at a time and trying to stay with a color combination of light, main color 1 and main color 2. For example my light is with a white, tan, off white; main color 1 is in the pink and red color family; and main color 2 is in the green family.

Here is a couple of little afghans I did. I've already given this pink and red one away for a little girl's birthday. The blue one is waiting for the next birthday to come around.

Izzy tends to think that anything I make is for her. She always want to stake her claim on it. It doesn't matter the size or what it is out of. She has taken a square or two and tried to hide them in her bed.

Live in the moment . . .

I make a lot of layouts for friends and family so most of my layouts don't have pictures on them. One of things I want to do this year is to show you the layouts that I make for myself. I first sprayed my cardstock with an acrylic paint and water mixture and then glimmer misted it. I wanted just a little highlight on the background. I then stamped the Clock from the {take your time} set across the top and towards the bottom. I punched a strip of paper and layered that at the top and on top of my bottom stamping. My stamping is not perfectly straight and that is fine as I'm also covering a lot of it up with the pattern paper.

I printed my photos out in black and white. I found it was easier and the background colors just wasn't working with any papers I was trying to use. I printed them out at 4x6 then layered them on my layout and finally cut them down to size. After I had placement down I added a ribbon to the top and bottom of the pictures.

I stamped "What I know ... about you" from the August KOTM onto white cardstock and journaled a bit about that day. From the July KOTM I used the "on this day and flag", stamped on orange cardstock, cut the flag out, attached it to a toothpick and placed that behind the bird. The date was punched with the word window punch. I have a couple of pop up dots behind the flag to help hold it in place. From the December KOTM I stamped the "Dream Hope Believe Live" onto cream cardstock. This stamp has a grungy feel to it and works great on guy pages. The "live in the Moment" stamp is stamped onto white cardstock and layered onto a piece of green cardstock.

The chipboard bird was rubbed onto my ink pad, the edges sponged, after it was dry I used the Clear Rock Candy to distress it.

I made this layout 12x12 for my album and my son's is at 8 1/2x 11. I will post a picture of the 8.5x 11 later as I am having problems with my camera.

Winter Layout

I did a layout for my guys for their 2011 scrapbooks. Last winter the snow never stopped falling and this year it just won't start, so I wanted to include this picture I took in December at the start of their album. I have both the 12x12 and the 8.5x11 page size.

I used Stampin' Up's Triple Layer Doily punch for the snowflakes on these layouts.

"Winter" is some white stickers that came with the Sunburn paper pack.

"brrr" is on a layered onto a large button and a punched doily. The photo corners are on pop up dots with another doily in the corner of the red cardstock photo mat so that the doily is also part of the photo corners.

I did another grouping of doily "snowflakes" in the left hand corner with a white snowflake on a small clear white button.

Happy Birthday - Creating Pretty Cards 7

I have another card using the sketch from Craft Project Central. My brother's birthday is in a couple of weeks and I need a card.

I stamped the ship on whisper white cardstock then centered it on the square Designer Frame, embossed it and cut the center out. I embossed another frame, cut around it and centered this on my card front. The ship is on foam dots. Instead of using circles I used the Decorative Label punch to the ledger paper that I stamped with Basic Gray.

I used the light blue DSP after cutting off the trees and Clouds for the inside of my card. I used the clouds as a border on the top of the card. The anchor is stamped with basic gray and punched out using the Designer Label Punch.

To make my ribbon match my card I used Very Vanilla Seam Binding and colored it with my Bermuda Bay ink pad, then used a heat gun to dry it.

Snow Day

I made this layout for a challenge at ScrapBookClasses, a group on Yahoo. We were required to use this Sketch from Page Maps.

I'm still in winter mode even though we do not have any snow remaining.

I used Design Studio to both design the layout and do a little bit welding. I wanted to use the bracket from the Elegant Edges cartridge so I welded that to a rectangle from George to create the upper background photo mat. I just didn't want to do scallops.

I did ink all the edges with either Sea Lavender or Dark Blue except for the snowflake and the white part of the sled. I really like how the Sea Lavender ink looks on the kraft and brown cardstock.

I used the sled from the Joys of the Season cartridge for the journal spot, and just love how this turned out.

Hi everyone, today is my day to host at the Card A Day Blog and we are continuing the Valentine's Theme. Today I'm using a stamp set by Inkadinkadoo that has a bunch of mini stamps in them.

For today's card you will need four different colors of red ink and stamp two different images in each of the colors. I punched my squares out using a 1 /14" punch, then inked around all the edges with Vintage photo. The kraft cardstock is cut at 4" x 5 1/2", dry embossed, and the edges are also inked. The red band is cut at 1 1/2" x 4". I made the bakers twine using two colors of embroidery floss and twisting them together. I then double wrapped it around my kraft card front and taped it to the back. Before I attached the button I added the three tags - hug, love, kisses; then added the button to the card.

I just can't have a blank inside so I had to spruce it up. I added another piece of kraft cardstock, then white cardstock with the red band at the bottom and another of the stamped images.

Spend Time With Family

Two Peas in a Bucket started the year off with Memory Keeping Mondays and the Challenge was "to use premade die cut shapes from at least three manufactures to create a layout." I used from the Georgie Porgie Collection - Cardstock Label Sticker, Making Memories Word Fetti - Winter die cut stickers and unknown snowflakes.

My border strip was cut from the bottom of the paper and is going horizontally instead of vertically, I had already used the top of the paper on another layout.

I actually took apart the snowflakes, they were layered onto of a silver snowflake, and used them as photo corners on the right side of the layout.

I hand cut a variety of journal spots for the side of the layout then used one of the Making Memories word fetti stickers on top.

I needed a thank you card and decided to use the sketch from Craft Project Central and based it on my {Love} Card.

I added a few extra pearls to the ribbon on the left hand side and one on each side of the bow.

I also added the little flower stamp in the inside of the card from the Tiny Tags stamp set.

Once again I stamped then embossed the envelope. It's a little thing but it really adds a lot when you send the card.

Snowflake Layout

Here's a quick winter layout using the Bright and Jolly Pattern Papers and the Lacy Labels Cricut Cartridge. I matched the snowman pattern paper with the green cardstock and another pattern paper from the Bright and Jolly Collection for the frame.

I cut some the extra snowflakes from white cardstock and added them around the outside of the frame using pop up dots. I think there was two snowflakes I didn't use. I totally forgot to ink my edges so they are all "naked"on this layout.

Winter Woodland Skating Layout

The Bitten By the Bug 2 has a challenge going on that uses the Winter Woodland Cricut Cartridge. Since I have that cartridge I thought I would do an 8x8 layout. I have lots of fond memories of skating. We didn't have rink, on the farm we used the overflow from the stock tanks or the stock tanks themselves.

I stamped with clear embossing ink the polka dots and used clear embossing powder. I stamped the two smaller snowflakes from the Snow Swirled set on the pink cardstock then inked the edges of white cardstock. The skates are cut out at 2" and layered. I hand cut the bows off of them because I wanted to add my own. I used some embroidery floss that is not separated for the laces and used glossy accents to glue them to the skate.

I used the lined stamp from Notes and Details to make a journal spot and stamped with the small snowflake on the side. Each page is similar in design I just changed the sizes a little bit.

{Love} - Creating Pretty Cards 7

I created this card for this month's challenge at Craft Project Central. The challenge runs all month long and you can enter as may times as you wish, but you must use Stampin' Up supplies only. In the past I have started out with great intentions and somewhere along the line I've used something that wasn't Stampin' Up so I haven't entered. Today however I got it right!!!

I stamped the medium sized doily onto whisper white card stock and punched it out with the 1 3/4" Circle punch. The card base is Basic Gray and the pattern papers are from the Welcome Neighbor paper pack.

For the inside I cut the Whisper White at 5 1/4" x 4 " and a border using the Welcome Neighbor DSP.

I stamped with the other three stamps from the Delicate Doilies set on the envelope and then embossed using Melon Mambo Embossing powder. I believe that it's a nice touch to finish off your card.

Tim's Tag Day 2

Have you checked out Tim's Tag 2. I was surprised at how quickly this came together. I stamped my tag with Stampin' Up's Music Notes then painted it with Antique White acrylic paint and wiped it off before it dried. I used my heat gun to help the drying process. I sponged on a bit of Broken China then sprayed glimmer mist on it. I cut the antlers off of the deer, ran it through my Xyron, placed a square of muslin on it and hand cut it out. After sponging on some Brushed Corduroy ink I think it looks almost like Tim's. For the border I used a scrap of tan cardstock, punched with the scallop border punch, inked with Vintage Photo and added pearls.

I am entering this into the Inspiration Journal Challenge.

Tim's Tag - Day 1

Since I'm feeling better I started looking at Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas and I just can't resist. I thought I could just look at them and say next year but that just isn't happening. So here's my take on Tim's Day 1.

I used my Cricut and several cartridges to make this tag and will have a list at the bottom of the post. I cut the tag out of kraft cardstock and used Desert Turquoise Acrylic Paint to paint my tag, and embossed with the Cuttlebug Snowflake Folder. I forgot to distress the tag by sanding - 1 step skipped. I used the Snowflakes embossing folder, the Xyron on the "Noel"

I saw this on a couple of blogs and had to do one myself. I used my Cricut to cut the square scallop shapes and the card front with the oval.

I embossed my scalloped squares and inked my edges as I was folding them. Next time I think I will have fold them then run them through the embossing folders.

I kept the card inside simple with just a punched edge.

I am the designer at Card A Day Blog today the theme is Christmas Thank You Card. I started with a white cardstock base.I'm using the Stampin' Up Doily Punch as it reminds me of a snowflake.

The Brushed silver paper is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. On top of that I layered a white embossed and blue embossed cardstock. I punched out of glitter paper the Doily three times. Just the bottom edge of each punched doily is overlapped.

I made the tag starting with the bottom blue layer, white then the top blue layer. After I glued then together I punched a hole for the lace bow. I added a small tag with the sentiment of "thanks {so much} in silver ink.

For the inside I layered the brushed silver, blue and then a white mat. I have the medium flower from the Boho Blossom punch in glitter paper on the inside.

Glitter Photo Ornament

This year I made these photo ornaments for the kids.

I used white cardstock for my base, stamped and embossed with red embossing powder. For the red glitter framed I cut it twice and ran both pieces through my Xyron. After gluing then together and leaving the top with adhesive I sprinkled with red glitter, pushed is down to get a nice coverage and shook the rest of it off. I did the same thing with "Joy" using gray cardstock and silver glitter. I have pop up dots behind the frame so that their picture can slide behind. I welded the 2011 together with Design Studio and attached it to the scroll. There is a pop up dot behind the scroll. For the hanger I used half of a pipe cleaner and have a button on each side of the base where the pipe cleaner goes through.

I am entering this in Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge and they want to see Glitter on your projects.

Vintage Christmas

Today's theme at Card A Day Blog is Christmas and Children and I am making a Book Card with a free vintage image. The finished Book Card size is 4 3/4 x 6 1/2 and 5/8 deep. I have to warn you that today's post will be a long.

Inside for the book part. I used white for mine and then covered the outside in brown cardstock.

2 pieces of cardstock 4 1/2 x 8

2 pieces of cardstock 6 x 8

Now you will need to score each piece at every inch (1,2,3,4,5,6, and 7) and accordion fold them. This is where I inked the edges of my book. Slide one of the 6x8 pieces together with a 4 1/2 x 8 piece and glue the top and bottom pieces together. You are only gluing the top and bottom corners together. I used liquid glue - make sure they are tight and straight..

Flip it over and glue the other side. I then glued the other 6x8 piece and lastly the 4 1/2 x 8. I now have a rectangle shape. I then used a piece of scrap cardstock to glue to the bottom.

Now for the Book Cover.

Measure your accordion box. My finished size is 4 1/2 x 6. I started with a piece of white cardstock cut at 6 1/2 x 11. Using the Scor-Pal I scored at 4 3/4 from the left side of paper. This will be the front of my card. I then used my box to figure the size of my book spine and mine is 5/8. Be sure to measure yours as it is possible that it is a different size. I then measured another 4 3/4 for the back cover and cut the excess off. Glue the accordion box on the inside back.

For the inside of my Book Card I used a piece of lace I had left over from another project and lined the edges of the book. I used my glue gun to glue the lace down.

I have a nice place to hold a pair of earrings or bracelet.

I have the sized of all layers below for your reference. I covered the outside of my white cardstock with embossed brown cardstock. I printed off my graphic on glossy photo paper and trimmed it to size. Mine is cut to 2 5/8 x 5. The hardest part is deciding how big you want to print your graphic. I use a combination of Cricut Design Studio and Photo Shop Elements to determine my graphic size. I basically design my card front and then size my graphic according to the spot I have left for it.

The image is matted onto a brown cardstock. I have a piece of vellum I embossed and then used walnut distress ink on to color the embossing. This is on a piece of white cardstock and that is matted onto a a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock. I just love that bit of shimmer it adds. This is onto a piece of white card stock.

I have distressed all the edges of the cardstock, vellum, and graphic image and then inked the edges in Walnut Ink. The image and brown cardstock are glued closer to the right hand side of the card front.

I added a pieces of ribbon to the right hand size of the card. On top of that I added a piece of trim which I hot glued to the back of the card. I then made a couple of decorative pins and glued them to the card with the points falling behind the image. On top of this is a double loop bow with a blue prima flower glued in the center. I punched a couple of leave out of green cardstock and used Holly stickles on top of them to give a bit of sparkle.

Sketch 134

Sketch #134 is up at Unscripted Sketches and here is my take on it. These sketches are a great way to use up some scraps and I have a couple more cards for Operation Write Home, hence the Valentine theme.

It's pretty close to the sketch, flipped on its side and I added a couple more layers. Instead of the three accent pieces I used the "love" stamp and a couple of punches.

I finished off the inside with a scrap of the background paper matted on black card stock.

Then I decided to use the flamingo stamp in the set. I kept the sketch on its side and moved the thee accent pieces into one again with the tab punch and put it on the inside of the border instead of the outside.

The pink heart on the above "love" is started off as a clear acrylic heart, I just used my Melon Mambo ink to give it a little color. I punched the pink background and layered it onto blue cardstock to finish off the inside.

Bloom Layout

I had a little bit of free time this week end so I finished a layout I had made in Design Studio. It's not a Fall, Thanksgiving or Christmas related just one I have been wanting to do.

I started by stamping The bird and bee from Nature Walk and the Decorative stamp from Bliss in Soft Suede randomly on my tan cardstock. I stamped the Butterfly from Nature Walk in Rich Razzleberry. I then used my glue gun to attach a piece of lace, I had left over from another project, to the back of my stamped cardstock. I inked my tan photo and journal mat with Soft Suede.

I used pop up dots for the branch at the bottom of the layout The other branch I cut apart and placed it where I wanted it to go. After that I added the large purple flowers then my pearls from the Stampin' Up Pretties Kit. I then filled in the area around the flowers with the punched purple and orange flowers. I used two different sizes of pearls for the centers. I then added the yellow roses after twisting the wire around a paint brush handle.

The vellum butterflies are inked and placed randomly around the page. I layered the single butterfly wing on the page with hot glue and then layered the other one a little bit off so that it looks like they were flying. The butterflies that are in one piece I used pearls for the bodies. This large butterfly was a happy accident as I was originally going to cut the outline out of vellum and the body out of the pattern paper. I had my papers in the wrong spot when I went to cut. I liked how it turned out so I didn't recut it.

For the journal spot I was originally going to use "bloom" in the center of it but decided to leave it for a journal spot instead.

Mary, Jesus and Joseph - Christmas Around The World

The theme this week is Christmas Around the World at Card A Day Blog. On today's card I made a card front first then layered that onto my card base. The card base is 5" x 10" scored at 5" to make a 5" square card. I then cut another pieces of cardstock 5" square for my card front.

I started off by stamping my image onto white cardstock then embossing in black. Be sure to leave lots of room around your image is you are using the dies. I then used the Spellbinders dies, the second to largest die, to cut my image. After coloring the image I embossed it with the same die.

I die cut two black pieces with the largest die and embossed one of them. I have pop up dots between the two black layers to add some more dimension. I then layered the white and black die cuts. I added a little bit of pearlized Smooch to to Baby Jesus and Mary's halos. While this was drying I cut the layers for the front of my card. Here's a close up of the embossing with the die, not sure how well you can see it.

As I said my gray cardstock front is cut at 5" x 5", the black is cut at 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" and the purple is cut at 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". After adhering them together I wrapped my ribbon around all three layers and adhered it to the back of the card front. I wanted my ribbon to go around all the layers but I didn't want to cover up the ribbon on inside of the card.

For my finishing touches I add a rhinestone to the center of the star - it looks like a pearl here - and a black pearl in each of the corners.

I was finally able to finish up this 12x12 layout. I used Stampin' Up Notably Ornate stamp set an the Lacy Label shape that was cut with my Cricut. The top part of the shape is not stamped but that is alright, as I have it tucked behind the photo mat.

The scallop border behind the smaller photo mat is from A Child's Year cartridge along with "(you)"

Summer Fun Layouts

Every once in a while I need to clean the top of my desk - to get those projects I've started and then have been unable to finish and these layouts were in that pile.

Here is the 12x12layout:

The paper is from the Thumbelina Collection from Piggy Tales. I was getting down to the last of the collection but knew I could squeeze out a few more layouts if I used some cardstock from my stash. The white photo mats, off white journal spots and the punched background for the rubons are the only paper my stash. "Summer fun" is from the sticker pack that was included in the kit.

Here is the 8 1/2 x 11 layout:

On each of the layouts the photo mats and journal spots are cardstock from my stash. I used the spiral border punch on the top edge of the journal spot.

Here is the 8x8 and 4x6 layout:

I added one of the rubons that was left in the kit to cardstock and then punched it with a decorative punch and used pop up dots when adding it to the layout so that the pictures can slide behind.

The Eyelet border punch is used thought the layouts.

As you know from this weeks posts that today is my day to post for Card A Day Blog, the theme is Christmas Food and I'm continuing the Gingerbread Man theme. I made an Easel card for today's card. I used Design Studio to size up my pieces.

My card size is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 and I'm not planning on using this card in an envelope but attaching to the bag of Gingerbread cookies that I will be making and giving to someone special.

The ric rac is from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I added a sheer ribbon behind my gingerbread man with the bow tied on the side.

Gingerbread Man Tag Day 5

I hope you are enjoying all the Gingerbread Man ideas. Since the Gingerbread recipe card is a gift I needed a tag to tie it all together. Today's project is all made from scraps from my stash. I cut my Gingerbread man out with my Cricut at 3" - be sure to hide the cookie so it does not cut and then you can have it to very right side of your mat.

I used an embossing pad and then white embossing powder for my stamped sentiment, then fussy cut around it. A little bit of ribbon, ric rac, and a couple of beads and buttons and my Gingerbread Man is finished. I plan on adding him to the package. After she opens the presents she can use it to decorate her tree next year or as bookmark in the recipe book.

Gingerbread Man Mini Album - Day 4

For day 4 of the Gingerbread Man Theme I made a 6x6 mini album. This is such a quick and easy album that it will take you hardly any time to finish. I am using the same K&I Memories Scrapbooking Kit just different papers.

For the cover I cut the gingerbread man out of felt sewed the buttons on and glued the beads for this eyes. The mittens and snowflakes came with the kit and I just glued them to buttons then onto the doily punched glitter paper. It's kind of hard to see the sparkle of the glitter paper. All of this is onto of a Sizzix die and the modern label and word window are punched out of cardstock for a title spot. I have a sheer ribbon on the side to finish it off.

I used the mittens and snowflake on the inside along with the doily punch. These are on top of a piece of the sheer ribbon on the left hand side. I have a piece of cardstock punched with the ornament border punch on the bottom of the page.

I used the same border punch on the left side of the paper with a polka dot sticker that was in the kit. I added the 1/4" sheer ribbon to the photo mat. My ink pad came apart on me so I have a really messy photo mat that no one will notice once the pictures are in place.

I used a couple of red buttons on the front of him. The gingerbread man snowflake is from When Its Cold Outside and I have the "cookies" on a clear button in the center of the snowflake. I have the sheer ribbon running behind the snowflake and a tab on the recipe instructions.

The Card A Day Blog's theme this week is Christmas Food. The first thing I thought of was Gingerbread Cookies and my card inspiration this week is on Saturday so I thought I would have a week of Gingerbread Man ideas. For today I have a Gingerbread Man Treat Jar.

The red cardstock is 2 1/4" with the punched border and the pattern paper is 1 5/8". Over that I wrapped a sheer 7/8' ribbon. I stamped my sentiment in red and then layered them onto another punched cardstock.

I used the From my Kitchen cartridge to cut the gingerbread man out of felt and sewed on a couple of button's with light weight yarn and a couple of beads for his eyes.

I used some non traditional colors for my card today. I started with a black card base. I stamped my white cardstock with the Elements of Style swirl to represent a branch of a Christmas Tree. I stamped this off the paper and did stamp this twice to fill a little of the empty spot. Using some embroidery floss I made a hanger going from the back to the front of the card and taped the ends on the back.

I used the Final Press embossing folder on the red cardstock and attached that to the front then stamped my sentiment. I attached the ornament using pop up dots and a few rhinestones to the hanger and under the "Seasons Greeting"

To finish off the inside of my card I stamped the swirls in the corner.

Happy Haunting - Day 12

Today is the last day of the 12 Days of Halloween and I hope you have enjoyed my projects. If you misses any of the 12 Days of Halloween click here. I have a 12 x12 layout to share with you. Remember you can click on any photo to see it larger.

I have inked around all the edges of the black cardstock with orange and black ink on the "Happy Haunting" title. The spiders are spider rings I picked up at the dollar store. The photo mats are cut at 4.25" x 6.25", 3.25" x 5 .25" and 2.25" x 2.25.

The spider web is cut at 5 3/4" out of vellum paper. I only glued in the center of the web and that is where I also attached the spider.

The bat border is cut a 2 1/8". I added black rhinestones for his eyes i just didn't like the look of the wiggly eyes on the bats.

Happy Haunting is cut at 2 1/8" once in orange and then with the shift button in black. I cut the ring part off of the spiders and glued to each side of the saying.

Halloween Treat - Day 11

If you missed any of the other 12 Days of Halloween click here. Today I have a couple of treat cards to share with you. These treat cards are super quick to make and I have them in two sizes. The small one will hold a smarties and the larger one will hold a roll of lifesavers.

I kept decorations simple as I wanted the bat fence to be the focal point. My black bat is embossed with black embossing power.

The bow is pop doted on the side of the candy holder with a bit of embroidery thread running through it.

Today I'm the Designer at the Card A Day Blog an this week's theme is Christmas and Animals. We have Daily Inspiration, Weekly themes, and a chance to win a Gypsy this month! So hop on over there is you haven't check it out yet.

I need to make several Christmas Cards for guys only and this one fits the bill. The non traditional colors combined with the argyle pattern paper is what makes this card perfect for the guys.

I stamped Dasher and embossed him with gold embossing powder. I like to measure around my stamps that are wood mounted to get their measurements then cut my cardstock and finally stamp. It just works better for me than trying to cut the image out afterwords. I punched jewelry tag out twice and used it behind the "merry" tag.

I used blue seam binding on this card instead of the gold ribbon. (I tried several time to take a picture of the card straight from the front, but the gold embossing just out shines everything.)

Halloween Subway Art Day 10

Day 10 of the 12 Days of Halloween is some Subway Art. I made my file 12x12 but sized it down in Photoshop to fit my picture frame. I punched the spiderweb border to fit the inside of the frame.

I punched my spider web then cut at 1 1/2" then glued on top of the subway art.

Halloween Trees - Day 9

I have seen these trees every where and when I do I keep saying I can make that. Here is how I did. I went shopping at the dollar store and picked up cone shapes and a set of the round balls. The round balls come in a pack of two.

I spray painted my terra cotta pots and bottoms and used acrylic paint on the skewers. While they were drying I made a pattern by rolling my cone onto a scrap piece of paper, cutting it out, and tweaking it until I got the look I wanted. I then cut it out of my pattern paper. It did take a sheet of 12x12 paper per tree.

I added my lace and sheer ribbon to the inside of my tree shape then added the ribbon to the outside of my paper and finally glued it all together. For the Flocked tree I had to use the glue gun to keep it together. My finishing touch was to add a large button to the top of the trees.

I glued the styrafoam ball into the pots, added the trees and topped with some glass marbles I already had

Glitter Bats - Day 8

For Day 8 of the 12 Days of Halloween I have a pretty quick project. I have a couple of small black frames that I haven't used yet. My Glitter Bats were perfect for this project. If you have missed any of the previous 12 Days of Halloween please click here.

I first printed them out on glossy 4x6 photo paper as I was going to leave them nice and shinny. I hand cut around them then decided to dress up a little bit and the glitter was just the thing.

I then printed the bat out again on the 4x6 background paper. I wanted my bats to be off the paper so I used pop up dots behind them with a little bit of orange cardstock for the eyes. The glass for the frame is behind my pattern paper as I didn't use it in this project.

Thinking of You

I had picked up a couple packs of Recollections 8 1/2x11 paper packs when they were on sale. The make great card bases and I can get two out of one sheet of paper without breaking into the 12x12 paper.

I used some scrap paper for my flower background cutting them at 1 1/2x 2 1/2 strips. I stamped and embossed each flowered strip with clear embossing powder. The brown background is cut at 4x4 and embossed using the Textile Embossing Folder, then punched using the Stampin' Up Eyelet border punch. A piece of ribbon tied around the embossed base to finish it off. I stamped "Thinking of You" and punched it out with the scallop punch.

Even though this is light cardstock I finished the inside with a piece of white cardstock inked with olive green. Another piece of brown cardstock embossed and punched and a gold piece to finish the border. I used the Itty Bitty Punch set to make a grouping of three flowers with pearls in the center.

Autumn Card

Our temperature has dropped and I feel fall coming on fast, so today's card is a fall theme card. I used the Stampin' Up set Autumn Days to create this card. I stamped and embossed the flowers, berried and wheat onto their own colored cardstock. The dark brown is embossed and then edged with the border punch. I attached my ribbon to the back side of this then adhered everything down. I stamped the little maple leaf onto white cardstock and punched it out for the inside.

Halloween Treat Jars - Day 6

For Day 6 of the 12 days of Halloween I am altering a Frappuccino bottle. I need a few to drop off for the ladies at work. Since my son loves these there is always a supply for me to recycle. Be sure to wash it out really well. I peeled off the label before running it through the dishwasher. I wasn't worried about the glue residue as I am covering that up. If you want to remove the glue you will have to use a product like Goof Off or Goo Gone.

The scrapbook paper is cut 2 1/2" inches wide. I then wrap it around the bottle to see where I can cut the extra off at. I then punched the spider web on a 5" piece of black cardstock and glued this to the inside of the designer paper.

Using the Decorative label I punched another designer paper for the background. On top of this is the white cardstock with a sticker from the Achievers Halloween kit. I then punched a the bird out of the black and glittered cardstock. I have a pop up dot behind the bird.

I used the Martha Stewart bat punch for this set of bottles. You can make your own mix or buy a pre-mixed one. I have a friend who is allergic to nuts so I always make my own concoction for her.

Halloween Mini Album - Day 5

I used a Scrapbook kit from Archiver's to make these adorable 6x6 mini albums for the kids. This is going to be a long post as I did 4 of these albums in one evening after work. Everything except the chipboard and black cardstock came in the kit. I used a couple of punches to add some detail to the inside pages.

Here is the first "girl" album.

I used the Baroque die as the main photo mat on the left hand side of the album and the Styled Label dies on the front of the albums

Here is my second "girl" album.

I just love the Halloween ribbon that was included in the kit. There was enough ribbon to wrap all four of the photo mats on the left side and all of the binding.

For the "boy" album I used the skull and cross bones paper that was included in the kit.

Pumpkin Button Box - Day 4

I made a "button box" from Mirkwood Designs using Pink Paislee Hocus Pocus Haunting paper for the box. The frame is from the Lacy Label cartridge button number 4 on the keypad.

I have a piece of the bat fence behind everything with the pom pom trim along the bottom of the box. The pumpkins are stacked on the Designer Label punch with the ribbon attached behind them. I cut a green silk flower for the leaves on the pumpkins. I added a couple of my stickpins and one of them is altered with ink. I cut two wreaths , adhered them together then used pop up dots behind them so that a picture can fit inside. I lightly inked all the edges of the box.

For the back I used more of the bat fence and a flower with an orange jewel for the center. To keep my box closed I have a magnet behind the flower and fence.

Tag Treat Holder - Day 2

For Day 2 of the 12 Days of Halloween I have a couple of treat holders for you. If you misses Day one click here to be taken to the card.

Here's a quick treat holder for your ghost or goblin. I used the Stampin' Up Two Tags die to make this. I cut two tags from my card stock and glued them together.

I stamped with VersaMark Ink and embossed in black. I then fussy cut the bat and layered him onto the orange cardstock.

I cut the pattern paper to 2 5/8 x 1 7/8. The white card stock is just a little bit larger than my stamp . The top is tied together with a scrap of ribbon.

I also made a similar version using Design Studio and the George and Basic Shapes and the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridges. It is just a little bit larger than the die cuts and it is one piece.

I used VersaMark Ink and black embossing powder.
When you add your treat to the inside you can use a a little bit of adhesive to keep it in place.

Christmas Card Blog Hop Challenge Day 2 - Poinsetta Gift Card Holder

Welcome to Day 2 of the Card A Day Blog hop. Today I'm sharing a gift card that I made with my Cricut and Design Studio. The card base is made with the George and the Basic Shapes cartridge along with the main layers. You will need to decorate all four sides of this card.

After cutting my base I scored the card part at 4 1/4 and the flap at 5 1/2. I inked all the edges inside and out with Vintage Photo, since all four sides of this card will be decorated. I then wrapped my ribbon around the front and back of the gluing on the front and back of the card and leaving about 1/8" to 1/4" from the edges where I will tie the bow. I then layered the cardstock and designer paper pieces onto the front and back of the card.

The gift card slips into it own tag which hide under the flap of the card. The base of the tag is 3 1/4" x 4 1/4". The gift card holder is cut at 3"x4" and has slots to hold the gift card in place. I use a slot punch but you could cut the slots by hand or use photo corners to hold the gift card in place.

Christmas Card Blog Hop with Card A Day Blog

My card for today is A Merry Little Christmas to you

I started with a Kraft cardstock base and inked all the edges. After embossing the green layer added a strip of glue to the bottom edge and placed it where I wanted it to go then lined up my striped layer. I wrapped the red ribbon around both layers and attached this piece to to the red mat. The ornament is punched out twice- one in the red cardstock and again in the glittered cardstock with the ribbon sandwiched between the layers.

For the inside I added another ornament on the left side of the card and a decorated mat for the right side of
the card.

Flying Witch

Today I'm the Guest Designer for the Card A Day Blog. Thanks so much for coming to check out my card today.

I'm using a Clear Stamps set called Halloween Boogie. Since this is a clear set I can't just measure the wood block to get the size of the stamp so I did a couple of test stamps to get may paper to the size I liked. In this case 2 1/2 x 3 1/2. The witch is stamped with VersaMark embossing ink and covered with black embossing powder. The orange pattern paper is cut at 2 1/4 x 5 1/4.

The inside of my card is finished off with a white mat cut to 5 1/4 x 4 and inked in black. My decorative border is a strip of the orange cut at 1 1/4 x 4 and punched with the Spider Web punch.

I scaled the 12x12 layout to fit a 8 1/2 x 11 layout. The bird and flower motif are a bit smaller than on the 12x12 layout. The rest of the elements I kept the same size.
Once again all the edges are inked with coffee bean ink. The photo mat has changed from horizontal to vertical.

Here is a close up of the Amour and the fragment tile.

I added a grey scrap behind the bird’s eye, I just didn't like the white and brown showing through.

Going Batty

Today I'm the guest Designer at the Card A Day Blog and the theme this week is Cats and Bats.For my card today I am using this Pagemaps sketch.

I used Design Studio to design my card and instead of using tags I used the bat from Paper Dolls Dress Up.

I used mini pearls for all the bat eyes and inked all the bats and the card base. The kraft paper was embossed with the Argyle folder.

I used a strip of karft paper and one of pattern papers for the inside of my card. Thanks so much for stopping by and head on over the Card A Day blog for some great inspiration.

something for which to be thankful". - Charles Dickens. This is one of the sayings in the September Kit of the Month from Unity. I used the leaves from this set for the front of my card and the border stamp from the July Kit of the Month.

I stamped newsprint paper with the Medallion stamp and layered the border strip, ribbon and punched the green cardstock with the Swirling Lace border. After embossing the medium die I layered it with the decorative label then placed the leaves on top. All of my edges are inked in midnight black.

I stamped the quote in Olive green and have it inside the card.

Lattice Layout

In the current Stampin' Up book there is a layout on page 222. I wanted to recreate it as an 8 1/2 x 11 layout. I used the Stampin' Up Lattice die and Stampin' Up Itty Bitty punch set.

I used six of the Lattice cuts on my page and punched a variety of flowers with the Itty Bitty punch out of the same paper pack.

Just Because . . .

I needed a card for my Brother-In-Law and his new wife. They had gotten married in June and are have the reception and new home over the weekend.

Please remember that you can make any picture bigger by clicking on it.

I used the medallion stamp on the outside of the envelope. I just love this stamp.

I used the medallion stamp on the front of the card then layered the punched and die cut shapes on the front of the card. Everything is inked with Basic Black. I added a bit of sheer ribbon from my stash. I don't have the butterfly punch so I fussy cut around the butterfly.

I used the flat back pearls in the center of the butterfly and only glued the center part down and left the wings free.

I added another butterfly on the opposite side of where I'll put my message.

I really like how this card turned out.

Giving Thanks - Card A Day Blog

This is my first card as a designer for Card A Day Blog which launched September 1. We will be giving you lots of inspiration for your own card making, so please stop by often. The 1st of October is the start of the Christmas Card Blog Hop.

This week’s theme is Giving Thanks. I always have a couple of cards that I hand deliver at this time of the year, so I can make them bulky and this is one of those cards. I used Design Studio to weld the leaves together to create my card base.

The card front is from white cardstock and glimmer misted until I got the look I wanted. I used a silk leaf as my flower base then started adding silk and Prima flowers until I got the look I wanted.

I used the glue gun to attach the silk flowers to my card front. I find that it will keep them where I want them better than regular adhesive.

I stamped "Happy Thanksgiving" on white cardstock, punched it out and tied it with gold thread. I have pop up dots behind the tag and the gold thread is running through the flowers. The ribbon is actually in two parts. The bow is glued at the top with the ends tucked behind the flowers. The tail is the second part and it is tucked behind the leaf on the bottom of the card.

I have some bulk to this card, but you can use some flat flowers and embellishments if you are planning on sending this through the mail.

I inked the edges of the white cardstock with ochre to give it a little bit of definition and added a couple of flowers with pearls for the center. I'll write my message later.

Here is part three of the Recipe Book Album. I'm using an Album from Pink Paislee and the papers are from October Afternoon Modern Homemaker line and Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess. This came as a kit from Scrapbook Heaven.

The striped paper is the back Canning Jar paper. I used Party Line for the front of divider for Drinks. I did not add any cut outs to this divider.

The back of Party line is the yellow and I used Snickerdoodles for the front of the divider for Desserts.

I used a bunch of scraps from other projects to make the dividers on the recipe pages.

There are enough letters from The Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type to spell out all my labels for the dividers.

Amoure - 12x12 Layout

I have a 12x12 layout to share with you using the Home Accents cartridge and George and Basic Shapes.

All of my edges in this layout were inked with coffee bean. I welded the bracket edge in Design Studio to make a border for my 12x12 paper and glued it next to the dotted paper. My ribbon covers the edges of both papers.

In the top left corner I stamped "Life is a matter of moments" and the angel then covered them with a Tim Holtz Fragment. After the fragrament was dry I used and X-acto knife to cut around it. I stamped Amour onto a piece of cardstock, inked and curled the edges.

I used three of the motifs for the corner with the bird pop dotted. You can slide a photo behind some of the flower motifs and the bird. The photo mat will hold a 5x7 photo.

Just for You - Card A Day Blog

Here's the card sketch for this week at Card A Day Blog and the Designer is Shirley Ross. Stop by and see what she had for inspiration for you today.

Here is the first card. I made two card out of one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" paper. I used the corner rounder punch on the right side only.

I used the Retro prints mat stack for the pattern paper. The back ground papers are cut at 2 x 5 1/4" and I rounded the right side. I embossed the Kraft piece to add a little bit of dimension. I cut the white cardstock at 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 " and rounded the right side corners. After stamping my image adhered the polka dot paper cut at 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" with the corners on the right rounded. I added a bit of seam binding to finish off the front of the card.

Here is an angle view that shows how I finished of the inside of the card.

Here is the second card, with the pattern papers reversed.

I forgot to wipe the stems off after inking my stamp so I stamped the sentiment and used the word window punch to punch it out.

For the inside of the card the white cardstock is cut at 4 x 5 1/4 with the right corners rounded. The pattern paper is cut at 4 x 1 1/4" and layered onto Kraft card stock cut at 4 x 1 1/2 ", with the bottom right corner rounded.

Matchbox - Tags Bags Boxes and More Series #3

I like to use the matchbox on pages 123 (outside) and 124 (inside) of the Cricut handbook for packaging when I gift one of the jewelry sets I make. My box (the inside) is cut a little smaller than the outside of the box. If you are looking at the overlay it is button 42 (outside) and 43 (inside).

This is my finished box. I used a simple belly band on this one to wrap my box and a little bit of ribbon pull to open the drawer.

I used part of the pattern paper for the main piece of the belly band, then added the blue card stock and two pieces of punched orange card stock on either side. I start out with a 12' for the length, build up my layers, then score to fit the outside of the box and finally cut the belly band. I did some trimming of the border so I do not overlap the lace pattern.

I used a circle punch and a hole punch to attach the ribbon for the pull. Inside the box I have another strip of orange to cover up the ribbon knot.

This is my box all put together, I just need to add the jewelry set.

The right side is the back of the Cherry Pie paper. For the entree divider I used the Needle & Thread paper. The spoon and fork are cut from Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess paper.

I used Canning Jar to cover the back of the Entrees divider and Flour Sack for the Bread Divider. The cutouts are again from Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess paper.
I again used some scrap paper to embellish above the recipe cards

Vroom - Two Page Layout

Fancy Bath Towels

I needed a birthday present for a young lady. I pulled out my Fabric Ribbon sample sheets then went shopping for bathroom towels. I actually take my sample sheet with me so that I can match it to the towels. Here is what my sample sheets look like.

After I matched up the fabric ribbon to the towel color I made three sets of fancy bathroom towels.

Set 1:
The pre gathered lace has a gold thread running through it and I thought it went well with the color combinations.
Set 2:

I had to gather the lace on this one. It was worth the effort as I love the way it turned out.

I only had one size of the fabric ribbon so I used it on all three towels.

Recipe Book

For some reason this didn't post yesterday so I'll give it a try today. My niece just had her second baby so I thought this would be perfect for her to take pictures of the kids helping make Christmas Cookies or Hot Chocolate for Santa or Reindeer Food for Rudolph.

The album is 6x12 from Pink Paislee and the papers are from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker line and Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess Collection and came as a kit from Scrapbook Heaven. (Remember you can click an image to see the detail.)

For the first divider I used the Clothespins paper - the plaid on the front and the flowers on the back. I cut around out the tag and the "Domestic Goddess" label from the Graphic 45 paper, punched a hole and added jute for the string. The Labels on the dividers are made from the Modern Homemaker stickers and Tiny Type stickers. I did back then with scrap paper as I have mine hanging over the edge of the divider.

For the second Divider I used the Cherry Pie paper and again cut around one of the sections of the Graphic 45 paper.

Michelle, one of the DT's made recipe cards for us to download and print out. I used some scraps to divide the page into 6x6 sections. The top sections she can use for pictures or to journal and the recipe is on the bottom. I used scraps and decorative punches to decorate the these two sections.

Here is the back of the pages. I used part of the clothesline sticker that was included to divide one of the pages and some scraps from other projects to decorate the second page.

Cricut Handbook

A fellow Blogger asked me the question of what does "page 129 of the handbook mean", Theresa this is for you. I purchased my Tags Bags Boxes and More Cartridge way back when it came in a box that included the cartridge, overlay and the handbook.

This is what my original handbook looks like. Page 128 is the top and page 129 is the bottom page with the Crayon Box. The first part of the handbook explains the different function keys and has a sample of a project. This is in several different languages so the actual shape or image gallery doesn't start in my handbook until page 82.

In the PDF Handbook there are only 8 pages and the Crayon box is on the 7th page with page number 70 under it.

Using the overlay and counting the buttons on the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cartridge the Crayon box is #48. The above pictures shows it highlighted in Design Studio.

I have only downloaded the PDF Handbooks for the cartridges that did not come with a Handbook. SewDelish has a great tutorial on how she organizes the PDF Handbooks along with the link to the Cricut Cartridge Library. When I design a project I alternate between the Handbook that came with the cartridge or the PDF Handbook.

Cricut 360 Challenge #8 - Back To School

The new challenge at Cricut 360 is Back to School. I decided to make a mini 6x6 album. I used a couple pieces of recycled chipboard boxes for this project. I inked all the edges of the album with Distress Ink. The page elements were either inked in brown or white.

I used a couple of different cartridges for this challenge. The photo frame is from Accent Essentials, the bus charm Doodlecharms and the boy is from A Child's Year. I used The forest Branches embossing folder to distress the frame.

I used the border feather on the Doodlecharms cartridge to create the bus border.

The alphabet mat is from Graphically Speaking and the apple charm is from Doodlecharms

Crayon Box - Tags Bags Boxes and More Seires #2

I like to put the little doodling pages and mini albums that I make into the crayon box before I give them away. The Crayon Box is on page 129 of the handbook.

I used the 12x12 mat, Fit To Page and Blackout Features to cut my card stock base. The Cricut will cut this out at 8 3/4". Once it is cut I score, fold, and ink the edges of the box.

Here is what the card stock looks like cut out. I inked the edges. There is small oval that will fit on the flap if you choose to decorate the flap.

The mini notebook I made is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I use the bind it all and the small wires to put the notebook together with about 30 pages.

It fits nicely in the crayon box

Playful Layout

Another set of layouts from the Thumbelina Collection from Piggy Tales. I added the red pom pom trim and the peach colored card stock from my stash.

Here is the 12x12 layout:
I inked all the edges before I stuck anything down. For the 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 border I cut 5 squares. I lined then up starting in the center and working my way towards the edge. I cut off the excess then inked the edge again.

Here is the 8 1/2 x 11 layout:

I did not like any of the remaining stickers so I made one using the Sizzix die set and the Toad paper. I then used three of the flower rub ons.

Here is the 8x8 and 4x6 layout.

I used a darker red pom pom trim on this layout.

I used a border punch and pop up dots on the red border

Three Altered Mini Books

When I was at the Food and Wine show in Minneapolis we were given mini notebooks to keep track of our taste testing.

I turned mine into a mini scrapbook. I use the Stampin' Up Just Believe stamp for the cover along with a scrap of ribbon an a few pearls.

I traced the pattern from above and made a couple more using the bind it all to put them together.

Baby Mini Album - 5x7

My sister is a Grandma again. I think she needs a baby album to celebrate the occasion.

Here is some general intimation about all the pages. The pages are 5x7 and are cut from recycled cardboard. I used the Tim Holts Baroque Die as a photo mat on each of the pages. Each page and baroque die is distressed with either Tattered Rose or Wild Honey. After I finished all my pages I decided to use the Bind-It-All and only used 6 wires in the middle of the album.

Page 1 and 2:

Here is a close up.

I used glossy accents to attach the button to the circle paperclip. After it was dry I added the story ticket. On page two the flower spray is created by stamping the flowers on paper from the Sunburn collection and fussy cutting them. I used the branch punch and little leaves die to add some accents. The flower spray was glued to a scrap of card stock and attached with pop up dots. The button on the right hand side is tied with embroidery floss and overlaps the photo mat just enough to help hold anything tucked into the flower spray.

Pages 3 and 4

On page 3 I made a mini clothes line. I used the cricut to cut the tag and then stamped it with the journal stamp and the modern label punch for the smaller tag. The tags are held together with a grommet and attached to the string with a jump ring. I have a couple of buttons holding the string in place. Page 4 has a belly band holding the mat in place with 4 buttons and a butterfly accent.

Pages 5 and 6:

On page 5 I used the Stylized Label and stamped the Unity Small things sayings with the 3 birds on a wire from Stampin' Up. This was then attached to the velum sheet. I layered the vellum sheet to 3 pieces of the baroque die to make a large tag with the last sheet glued to the page. There is small mini brad in the top left corner holding everything together.

I used another Stylized Label die and attached it with foam dots so that the mini envelopes and photo mats can slide behind it.

Here is a close up of page 5 opened up. I did a combination of pattern papers so that she can use them for pictures or to journal.

Here is a close up of page 6 envelopes and photo mats. I have no idea where the chipboard butterfly elements came from but they worked great as fasteners for my envelopes. On the photo mat I just glued a scrap piece of ribbon and lace with a button to make a quick little accent.
Pages 7 and 8:

The baroque die on page 7 is only glued at the top and bottom so that the tag set can slide behind. Page 8 has a slanted pocket that holds a set of the baroque die pages. The decorative accent is The button stamp from the Unit Kit and was fussy cut then layered onto a couple of decorative circles. I added a few punched butterflies and the beauty tag is on pop up dots.

The tag set is held together with a Stampin' Up Earth Elements brad. I cut the tabs off and glued a circle on the back of the tags to finish it.

I had this designed with my Cricut but lost the file when I had computer issues. I think I used Plantin Schoolbook for the envelope but do not know for sure. Thanks for stopping by.
