Digging Out

I did this layout for the January Challenge at White with One.   The Challenge is to use treetop (green).  I knew my Counterfeit Kit had some green papers in the Heirloom stack so I pulled one out.
My finished layout is totally different from what I had started. I wanted to use a mask and some gesso and acrylic paint, but I am out of gesso so I used mat gel with acrylic paint.  I wasn't happy with the turn out - it was just to bright of a green for my green paper from the Heirloom Stack that the photo is mounted on.

I pulled out the hexagon punch and punched some of the green paper from The Heirloom Stack and white cardstock, embossed some of the hexagons and inked around all the edges of the white cardstock.

I added the hexagons randomly around the page, some of them are on pop up dots and some are just on the page. The photo is layered onto two pieces of foam tape and behind it is the journaling tag. The hexagon on the right of the photo pulls.. I like that the hexagons remind me of snowflakes. To finish off the page I use a dark green sharpie for the edges of the white cardstock.

The journaling reads: We were out of power during the night and were blasted with another 7" of snow. Schools are again closed today as everyone is digging out.

Thanks for stopping by.

the rich green hexagons and inked white ones are really great on this layout. I really like that you raised some of them - I like to add a bit of dimension like that. And clever use of the hidden journalling!
