February Counterfeit Kit Challenge and Blog Hop

Master Forger Cindy here welcoming you to   February's Counterfeit Kit Challenge Kit Reveal and Blog Hop. Please welcome our Guest Designer Karen Pietruszkiewicz

I am a newly retired Neonatal Nurse Practitioner that loves being home now full time with my 5 rescue dogs and 2 cats and catching up on all of my scrappy fun that I have so misses over the yars when I was working! I started scrapbooking in the early 90's with Creative Memories shortly after I got married. At the time my Husband was Active Duty in the Submarine Service, so I had LOTS of time on my hands when he deployed to keep busy, thank goodness for scrapping! I also love jewelry making, reading, and travel, looking forward to checking off places on my Bucket List one at a time! I am also a Certified Pet Massage Practitioner, but unfortunately, with physical limitations and progressive arthritis, I have not been able to continue with this as a business but enjoy the occasional massages I can provide the rescue dogs at local shelters. I am so happy I found CKC and love seeing what you all are able to do with shopping your own stash, so so inspiring! I like to scrap non chronologically with what I am in the mood to do that particular day and try and do something in my Crafty Space everyday! It is truly my therapy in this crazy world...Thank you all so much for having me this month, it is truly and honor!!! Karen.

I wanted a kit that did not represent all winter, snow and Valentines for this month, and could eases us into the coming months.  I picked the Cocoa Daisy February 2022 Elegance Blooms kit for the softer colors, the lighter greens, yellows, pinks, and blues. You could still do a Valentine's Page or card and even a winter or snow page. I think this kit will be very versatile for this coming month. I know it's a LOAD month which is why I'm keeping it open for you to pull from any or all of the kits for inspiration.

Now for my kit CKC February 2023 - So much to Celebrate.

My kit is a little bit different this time. I'm trying to use up a paper pad from DCWV - The Mariposa Stack this month (2009). The two row and most of the bottom row are from this stack. I have stiped paper in the bottom row from DCWV The Heirloom Stack (2011) and the last three are unknown papers and years.  The colors are just a bit richer, than the inspiration kit, some have glitter on them.

I pulled a wide variety of embellishments; most are leftovers and I want to try to use them up. I put my leftovers on wax paper and then store them in sheet protectors. At this point I don't always remember where they are from. I know there is some Jen Hadfield, Simple Stories, My Mind's Eye, Heidi Swapp, Various Printables and the sticker book from Park Lane (2021).

I do not have any of The Mariposa Embellishments - I'm not even sure there were any, so I am again planning on making my own. I have included the stitched and hexagon dies, a mall heart and arrow die set, Art C Stamp and Die set, Tim Holtz Garden Greens and Small Tattered Florals, Gina K Designs - stamps and dies.

Lastly, I will be adding in cardstock, I know I forgot to include an Envelope, bag, and tags. And I did not pick out any ink. There is probably more stamps that I will add as these are only flowers.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #1 - Sletch It!

Welcome to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge #1. Just a reminder we are using Hip Kit Club - December 2022 for our Inspiration this month.

Here is a look at the papers and embellishments

Challenge #1

Challenge #1
Challenge #1 is to use this Page Maps Sketch. This sketch was featured in the Scrapbook Cards Today Magazine here -

This sketch was featured in the Scrapbook Cards Today Magazine here -

For my layout I pulled out the sheet of Echo Park - Celebrate Winter "Mittens" and added the Simple Stories "Wood $ Gingham Basics (2017) and scraps of Black Cardstock and a Red journal lined paper from DCWV paper pad.

I stuck closely to the sketch while making my layouts. I trimmed my photos down to the same size as the sketch and matted them onto the black cardstock.

I pulled the elements from the various die cuts I included in my kit and added in a large felt snowflake on the right-hand side of the layout. I thought the boy die cut fit perfectly on this page for my grandson. And honestly why save it.

I pulled off a couple of the tags added twine and then used foam tape for the house. The picture was taken before Christmas of this year. We had Mr. D for a couple of days while Mom and Dad were getting a few things done at their house.

Thanks for Stopping by and don't forget to stop by the Blog to see what everyone did for Challenge #1.

January 2023 Counterfeit Kit Challenge and Blog Hop.

Happy New Year and welcome to the January Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog hop.  Lisa is our Master Forger in charge this month and she says, "I love Hip Kit Club and decided it was time to head there again even though it's only exclusive products. And I've gone for the December 2022 kit as it seems a winter kit with the slightest touch of Christmas which can be totally ignored if need be. . . I think the colours are lovely enough to twist this into more seasonal colours, I like the idea of something brighter and fresher for the new year by also hanging on a little for the recent festivities! There are enough standard style designs for you to match from your own stash and I think there are surely one or two forgery possibilities!"

We are delighted to have Anandi join us as Guset Designer this month. Lisa "simply adores her style and loved everything she made when she was on the Simple Scrapper Creative Team - and here CKC kits and layouts are a dream!

Now for our inspiration kit: Hip Kit Club - December 2022

The papers:

Embellishments - add on's

Here is my kit: CKC January 2023 - Let It Snow!

I pulled most of my stash a bunch of single papers, both cardstock and pattern. Since I normally scrapbook in multiples, (I normally buy several sheets (3 maybe 4) of the same paper), these single papers are probably from one of the guys.  I thought that the colors went well with the inspiration kit, so my kit has more of a Winter / Christmas feel to it.

Back Row: Gray cardstock, Crate Paper - Falala - Greetings (2017), Pink Cardstock, Fancy Pants - Holiday Hustle - Merry Holiday days (2017), Blue Cardstock, Crate Paper - Falala - Festive (2017), Black Cardstock, Echo Park - A perfect Winter - Welcome Winter (2017),Black Cardstock, Pink Fresh - December Days - Tis the Season (2017), Blue Cardstock, Pebbles - Night Night - Blue Blankie (2017), Echo Park - Merry and Bright - Santa Clause (2017),  Blue Cardstock - Celebrate Winter - Build a Snowman (2018)

Middle Row: Red cardstock, Tan cardstock, Crate Paper - Merry days (2018),  American Crafts - Sweater Weather - Winter Wonderland (2017), Pink Cardstock, Blue Cardstock, Echo Park - Celebrate Winter (2018), Simple Stories - Freezin' Season- Shiverin' (unknown), Green Cardstock, Doodlebug Designs - Christmas Town - snow much fun (2018), Red Cardstock, Simple Stories - Freezin' Season - Snuggled Up (2018), Green Cardstock, Echo Park Celebrate Winter - Cozy Mittens (2018), Green Cardstock, Pebbles - Cozy and Bright - Merry and Bright (2018). Green Cardstock, Doodlebug Designs - Christmas Town - Christmas Jammies (2018), White Cardstock, Pebbles - Cozy and Bright - Tis the Season. (2018).

Top Row: Blue cardstock, Unknown blue and white pattern paper, Pink Paislee - Auburn Lane paper pad (2019), Bazzill Basics Paper - Gold Star (2014), Craft Smith- Sweet mint paper pad (2015), Jen Hadfield - - Simple Life paper pad (2016), Jen Hadfield - Heart of Home paper pad (2017, scrap of American Crafts - Sweater Weather and a Carta Bella 6x6 paper pad - Santa's Workshop (2018)

I have dies cuts from Simple Stories - Freezen' Sesson (2018), Pink Fresh - December Days (2017), Crate Paper - Falala (2017), Crate Paper - Merry Days (a couple of different ribbons, additional labels in pink, red and gold, Enamel dots - Pink Fresh, Doodlebug and Echo Park, K and I Memories - Heartfelt - Celebrate Life (2006), -stamp and mini die twine flair and bow, acrylic star and fun, flair, pom poms, and a star paperclip and thickers - joyous- (2018).

I'm not sure what stamps and dies I want to pull in for my kit this month, so I will add them as I go, along with cardstock.

Day 7 - Seven -Swans A Swimming

Today I'm up on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog with the Day 7 prompt. For more information about our Daily Prompt please go to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog.

To find more about The 12 Days of Christmas prompts and how we are doing things this month go here (December 1, 2022, post here - explaining the month of December).

Here is my page kit for 'On the seventh day of Christmas'

I'm using 2 pieces 12x12 piece of white cardstock (Paper Studio), scraps of blue paper, the cut a part sheet is from a DCWV paper pad, various stickers, glitter domes - light blue, acrylic paint - white, distress ink - tumbled glass, a punched snowflake and a couple of snowflake wood veneers.

I have done both the story and Techniques of a "White background" and "White Splatter" on my layout.

We have had many a "White Christmas" and a few brown ones also. I have done a layout with three photos.

The top one is not a "Christmas" picture, but it includes a "Snowstorm" that happened in May. We were hiking up to 'M' in Missoula, The Second photo if of the guys making an igloo in our backyard in 2000 and the last photo is of the getting ready to snow board and innertube down the Mountains in Montana, using the snowmobiles to get to the perfect spot.

I started with a 12x12 white cardstock for my background and tore the other sheet into strips making snowbanks or hills. each strip is inked with the distress ink. I needed something to make the snowbanks stand out.  I used the stickers around the photos, the photo corners on the layout corners instead of the photos and matted each of the photos. I have a few of the glitter domes around the snow hills that are below each of the pictures I spread out the snowflakes, the white one I again used the distress ink. The journaling is next to each of the pictures. I used the acrylic paint with water to make the splatters.

We'd love it if you'd join in.
