Challenge #2 - Dog Days of Summer

Challenge #2 at the Counterfeit Kit is Dog Days of Summer: Create a Layout featuring pets, summer fun or lazy days.

I don't know about you, but I am definitely not having a Lazy summer or time for fun. It has been a very hectic summer for sure.  I'm using page set #2 from my August CKC - The Country Kit.

I included this house paper, the stripes and gingham in my kit along with some flowers and ribbon. I added the white cardstock, wood veneer and a stamped flower. The orange ribbon is the only scrap I had. I did not use the gingham paper.

I have a couple of photos I need to scrap for myself and my youngest of Ms. Izzy and her last Halloween Costumes. We would always dress her at Halloween. She loved greeting the kids at the door when we handed out candy.

I stamped the white flower added the wood veneer into the flower center

Kitty Time - Guarding the door.

The challenge at Counterfeit Kit is to scrap the animals which was inspired by the animal paper in the inspiration kit. I had included some zebra paper in my CKC February 2025 - The Neutrals kit for this layout. I have a couple of pictures of Milo and Maverick guarding the door while the grandkids were taking a nap.

Here is the Challenge page set I put together to scrap this layout.

The only thing I actually used is the cat that I cut out using my cricut. I added in off white ribbon and black and white thread. Sometime that happens, it's really a starting point for scrapping. I have other photos of the Milo and Maverick I can scrap so it all works out.

Here is my finished layout.

I love how they curl up outside the door waiting for them. Thanks for stopping by.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #3 - Let's Get Sketchy - These Two

Today we have the Counterfeit Kit Challenge #3 - Let's Get Sketchy. Here is the Sketch Master Forger Misty chose.

I changed it up a bit. First off, I went with a busy background paper for the heart and pink cardstock for the background. Then my photos are landscape and not vertical.

I backed the pink cardstock with the teal arrow pattern paper that was in my kit. Instead of having the hearts by the title I added them to the pennant at the bottom of the page. I don't have journaling on this one as it is part of other pages that actually have the journaling on them.

Thanks for stopping by.

iNDS Layout 2 - Strawberry Birthday

Layout 2 for iNDS at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge: my 5 items for this challenge are glitter (stickles), rub ons, stickers, cut file and sequins.

I am starting with page set 2 plus the items for the challenge and a couple of scraps.

I started by backing the cut file with the paper in the kit and matting the photos with scraps. I added the strawberry rub on and sequins, then added the journaling spot with the girl rub on. for the glitter I used stickles. The sticker on the bottom of the page gets carried onto page 2.

The rub on flowers and another sticker border at the top to finish off the page.

A few close ups of the details.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge - Sketch Challenge - Happy

 Today is the Sketch Challenge.

For this challenge I'm using page set #4.

I started by cutting all the cut a parts that was part of this page set. I was planning on using one of the houses but changed my mind as I was making the layout. I also did not use any of the embellishments I had pulled for this page set.

I did change the sketch up a bit. I have 4x4 photos instead of the 3 3/4x 3 3/4, I used a 3x5 journaling spot, instead of the date at the top of the right side it is on the bottom of my journaling.  I used a piece from the cut a parts where the date was. I did include a heart wood veneer and used ribbon instead of twine for my tag. I also roughed up the edges of the papers.  Since my pieces are bigger, I did not include the scallops as it was just too much.

Thanks for stopping by.

December 2023 - Sketching Around The Christmas Tree - Sketch #5 Layout

Welcome back to Sketching Around The Christmas Tree - Sketch 5.

Yesterday I posted the sketch I am using. Just a reminder I am using a December 2023 Page Map Sketch.

I did not put a Counterfeit Kit together for December this year. I am trying to use my older papers. I have the papers in 2 Iris bins and the elements in 1, 3snowflake punches and cardmaking in another and two bins of projects.

Yes, that is a total of 6 of those bad boys. I am going to use my stash for my projects this Christmas. My sketch is one that will be easy for me to use my scraps

I turned this sketch into a two-page layout. From my scraps I started with the presents and the green stripe paper. The presents paper was already cut into a 6-inch strip and the green was about a 7-inch piece. That is the start of page one.

I added in a scrap of red that I used the ornament punch on, a couple of blue scraps for under my photo and journaling. Then I pulled a couple of embellishments to finish off the page.

For the second page, I found the same paper that I was fussy, trimmed it down and added the dark green paper. The ornament punched red paper is pieced into three sections that you can see behind the photos. A couple more stickers finish off the page.
You know that we always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can post them in our Facebook Community or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcdecember2023).

Counterfeit Kit Challenge # 2 - Notable Quotes

Our challenge today is to use a Quote on our layout. As you know, I have a hard enough time getting a title on the layout, so this was a good one for me to do.

I picked out the quote first, one by Ralph Waldo Emerson. "Live well, learn plenty, laugh often, love much." I had a couple of ideas of the pictures I wanted to use and settled on these. They are pictures shortly after getting back from his last deployment and Derek getting used to having a Daddy around. I think it was easier for Derek to do a little bit of playing since we were all there - safety in numbers, maybe. It was also the first day that he stopped saying that it was his mommy and pushing David away.

I used my October Counterfeit Kit - CKC October 2023 - Around here. pulling out the Basic Grey - Oliver papers. I added in a white scalloped punched border, some green cardstock from my scrap pile and green photo mats.

Day 7 - Seven -Swans A Swimming

Today I'm up on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog with the Day 7 prompt. For more information about our Daily Prompt please go to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog.

To find more about The 12 Days of Christmas prompts and how we are doing things this month go here (December 1, 2022, post here - explaining the month of December).

Here is my page kit for 'On the seventh day of Christmas'

I'm using 2 pieces 12x12 piece of white cardstock (Paper Studio), scraps of blue paper, the cut a part sheet is from a DCWV paper pad, various stickers, glitter domes - light blue, acrylic paint - white, distress ink - tumbled glass, a punched snowflake and a couple of snowflake wood veneers.

I have done both the story and Techniques of a "White background" and "White Splatter" on my layout.

We have had many a "White Christmas" and a few brown ones also. I have done a layout with three photos.

The top one is not a "Christmas" picture, but it includes a "Snowstorm" that happened in May. We were hiking up to 'M' in Missoula, The Second photo if of the guys making an igloo in our backyard in 2000 and the last photo is of the getting ready to snow board and innertube down the Mountains in Montana, using the snowmobiles to get to the perfect spot.

I started with a 12x12 white cardstock for my background and tore the other sheet into strips making snowbanks or hills. each strip is inked with the distress ink. I needed something to make the snowbanks stand out.  I used the stickers around the photos, the photo corners on the layout corners instead of the photos and matted each of the photos. I have a few of the glitter domes around the snow hills that are below each of the pictures I spread out the snowflakes, the white one I again used the distress ink. The journaling is next to each of the pictures. I used the acrylic paint with water to make the splatters.

We'd love it if you'd join in.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge # 2 - At the Zoo

Challenge #2 at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is to "Use Triangle pennants on a page. Make your own if necessary. You could have a flagpole with a few funning down, or on the side of a photo."

Our Counterfeit Kit for August is Citrus Twist TRAVELOGUE Life-Crafted kit - April 2022.The puffy Stickers in the kit had pennants on it.

I included in my kit the Spellbinders Nested Lacy Pennants and small pennants and diamond dies.

Then using scrap paper I made a few pennants. Here are my forgeries.

As I was making my layout I decided to use a different photo so I changed my pennants to blue.

From my scrap paper I made a few tags and change the embellishments to blue. I added in a couple of pieces of the Silhouette  between the blue pennants. I inked and distressed the pattern paper behind the photo and added a scrap of lace on the right side.

Here are a couple of close ups of the embellishments cluster

Red Wing Layouts

I'm using my CKC March 2022 - My Happy kit for 2 double page layouts and 1 single page layout. I'm using the paper from my Page set 1 and embellishments from Page set 3.

Page set 1 Papers:

I have two sheets of the top flower paper and two sheets of the daisy paper.

Page set 3 Embellishments:

These are layouts I finished during the Master Forgers get together this last weekend.  I had to first clean my desk off so that I could work on them. These are older photos of our trip to Red Wing, Minnesota. I had bought a golf package for Dale for his birthday.

First up is the double page layout of the St. James Hotel. It's like walking back in time when you enter the St. James.

I gave my dies and punches a workout on this layout, and even pulled in a border punch. I left a spot for a little bit of journaling. on the right side.

I kept the right side pretty simple with a spray at the top.

The St. James is next to the river and the railroad tracks. The local farmers bring the harvest here to ship it out. Growing up, I can remember Dad talking about going to Minnesota and what he saw at the Grainery. As I was out walking in the morning, I walked past the Grainery and was able to watch them load the container ships which was new to me. Unloading the trucks at the Grainery was nothing new. In Montana it would go from the Grainery onto wither another semi-truck or onto the train.

I pulled in a few buttons and silk flowers for this layout and added in washi tape because I did not have enough black ribbon to put on the top of the pictures.

I have another set of flowers at the top of each page.

My last layout of the paddle boat that was moored next to the hotel.

I added in green bottle cap as it was a perfect color to go with the daisies.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #2 - Repeating Shapes - La La Love You layout

Challenge #2 on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog is use repeating shapes.  I decided to use sketch  #1 from Scrapping Reflections Follow a Sketch February for this layout.  I have pictures of Derek singing in the truck and sticking his tongue out at me while he was singing.  It's perfect for this sketch.

I used the Stitched Heart dies to cut out multiple sized hearts then added puffy hearts and heart enamel dots and rhinestones to each of the heart dies. to finish it off. I used distress ink in broken china to ink all the edges of the paper.

Thanks for stopping by.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #2 - Fall Colors Challenge

Welcome to Challenge #2 at the Counterfeit Kit Club. Tina has tasked us with a challenge of Fall Colors. Here is what she has to say, "Over here in the states Fall seems to be a huge thing! Especially with decor. So, with that in mind use the colors of Fall in your Area of the world to help you with your Creation."

I have a few pictures of the maple tree that is in our neighbors yard. In 2019 it was all one color - orange.

I did not touch up my photos, nor use any type of filter.

I printed out my photos at 3x5 and matted onto white cardstock, the vertical photos are matted separately, but the one on the right side I matted as one large piece. I trimmed down the Auburn Lane black and white floral paper to 11x 11 and the one inch pieces I cut of on the left side of the page. One of them is cut in half and tucked behind the photo so make it seem like a full strip.

I used a couple of the cut a parts on the page brown wood grain) and tucked them above my photos on the left and above and below the journaling on the right.

I added in a couple of the Silhouette cut leaves in orange and green and a stamped and fussy cut leaves . I also fussy cut one of the houses from the Pink Paislee Auburn Lane for the left side. I finished it all off with a few of the Bo Bunny Jewels.

I was not originally going to use this paper for these photos but the were in a competition with the oranges in my kit, and the wood grain paper I included was just to dark.

Special D Layout

I started with the Scalloped Border paper for the background and added a couple of different journaling cards from the Mix and Match set, scrap pieces of paper and a 4x6 journaling card from the Large Journaling Cards cut a part sheet.

After I had my layout and colors picked out I painted the chipboard “d” I included in my kit. I decided to go with and orange and blue colors. Originally I thought I would only pick one of the colors, but I liked how the orange picked up his shirt colors and the blue with the colors on his toys and shoes.
