Altered Journals for Christmas

So DH asked me to come up with a couple of Christmas gifts for some of the ladies at work.  I pulled out a couple of sheets from my November Counterfeit Kit and covered a Composition Book, then covered two Junior pads , then decided I would do a Post-It-Note holder.

So I made a total of 5 sets for him to hand out.

Now I just need to make the Gift Bags for them to go into.

Photo Tracking Notebook

Last month I printed off a photo that I had already scrapped. My scrapping consists of my album, oldest son's album and youngest son's album I really don't need the extra photos.  So I decided I needed a different way to keep track my photos.

Next to my printer I have a small file holder that holds my printed pictures.  I use the small post it notes to write the date after I print them then stick them to the back. There is also a bunch of note paper that list's the photo I'm planning on scrapping during month.  A while back I traded my oldest some college ruled for wide ruled composition books (he wants college but picked up wide) and it's a hassle to return and replace so we traded.

I started by covering the front with a pattern paper from DCWV's Sweet Tangerine Stack.  I want the front to be flat as I will probably store them in the file holder next to my printer.

So I jumped a few pages in (4) and started my section.  I started with 2009 as I've been scrapping a lot of that years photos.  I didn't want my tabs sticking out so I cut the page at the red line, measured my paper and cut the pattern paper. I rounded the corners after everything was already glued on.

I'm in the process of transferring my previous notes  into the notebook.  For 2009 I started with August, don't know what I was thinking, maybe because I was scrapping that month.  For the time being my notes of photos are paper clipped in.

I punched a tab and used the date stamp and word punch to make my year for both sides of the tab punch.  I used pattern paper that is light weight as the cardstock really bulked it up. For the 2010 tab I punched the inside part just to see how it would work.

For each year I have a page for each month, then 3 more pages one for each of my guys, the I added 3 more for extra for a total of 18 pages. For this Photo tracking notebook I have years 2009 to 2013. There was a few pages at the end of 2013 and I just put a post it note there (pink one on the right) so I know I can add a small section there if I want.

This notebooks starts my 2014 photo tracking. I'm planning on adding something to the front of the notebooks so that I can glance at them and see what the years are.  I may also just use my P-Touch to add a label to the spine for when it is standing up.

I just pulled random paper for the inside dividers, I have it in my stash so I must use it. I used we glue for the outside covers and inside front and back covers, then used dry adhesive for the divider pages.

Calendar and Address Book

So this is the first project I made with my October Counterfeit Kit and it's not a scrapbook page but an Address and Date binder for my youngest.  Since he's no longer at home (Yea!) he needs a way to keep track of birthday's and anniversary's and an address book instead of asking mom.

I cut down a piece of the DCWV Heirloom stack paper then backed it on a kraft cardstock for the front of the binder.  I rounded two of the corners to mimic the binder.

I used the Cosmo Cricket paper from my October Counterfeit Kit (the back side) for the front of the Dates Divider. I have a perpetual calendar in there for him to keep track of birthday's and anniversary's.

I stamped, colored, and cut out the cake.  Then added a few cheery colored paper but tried to keep it not girly looking.  I added a stamped and cut out banner to the top corner of my cluster.

For the address section I used the  Girls Paperie paper for the main page. I added the labels on the side of the dividers after both were made and put into the binder to get my placement.

I again stamped, colored and cut out the image.  I layered everything up and added the last of the blue twine. I added a mini paper clip to the paper coming out of the typewriter a few of the square rhinestones a the bottom of the cluster.

One of the sheets in the Heirloom Stack is a page with words on it and I cut the "friends" strip out then added it to the paper with the number.

Last time he was home I had him raid my stash of cards and tags for him to take back with him.  He now has his own supply and his own list and address to send them out.  I also sent him a

Elephant Altered Journal

I've completed the Elephant Altered Journal and only used 4 of the 5 papers from my set 1 Counterfeit Kit.

I used the elephant paper from DCWV Safari Chic Stack to cover the front of the album.

For the inside pages I used the DCWV Ultimate Premium Stack - Natural to cover the inside front and back covers.  I had two pieces of this paper so I was able to make the inside covers the same.  For the pack on the front cover I used the map paper from the DCWV Safari Chic Stack.

I had planned on using the leaf paper from the DCWV Ultimate Premium Stack for the pocket on the back page.  I did not because I had enough of the map paper for the second pocket.  The place mark is attached to the back cover (back inside cover, ribbon, inside cover paper).

I used the paper with the tree on the back of the album.

Since I use wet glue for this I allow the album to dry for a couple of days before I start adding the pockets and the charm.

Thanks for stopping by.

Altered Journals

After a conversation with my niece I knew I had to make a couple of journals for her to keep track of the things her kids say.  When I say the Unity kit with the little boy vest and little girl dress I knew I had to add that to the journals.

I started with a couple of Composition journals.  I wait for them to come on sale for a $1 at Staples then I pick up a selection.  I always have a hard time of do I get the ones with the lines or the graph paper, so I grab both. I made a separate journal for each of her kids.

The doily is cut in half and is from another project so I don't know which products I used on it.  but I cut it in half and added to each journal.

I used foam tape behind the picture frame and matted it onto gray cardstock, then cut around leaving a little bit of gray frame.

Thanks for stopping by.

I am entering this in the Unity Friends with Flair.
