Split Rock

My previous post is all about the 1000th blog Counterfeit Kit Challenge with my challenge kit and my scrapbook challenge which was distressing. (Remember that you can click on a picture to make it larger.)

My inspiration comes from this kit

I have a few photos from when we went to Northern Minnesota for the 100th Anniversary of the Split Rock Lighthouse and decided that this was the perfect layout to scrap them on.  I got busy and printed out four of them.

I've had the light pink and gold strip paper in my stash for a while along with the cream and pink paper (it was some that the guys got me) and I just didn't know what pictures to put on them, but I think these pictures work well with it.

I actually started with page 2 of my layout as the pink and stripe paper is on both sides. Before I cut into my paper I made a template as I wanted them on both pages like in the inspiration kit. I used the Honeycomb embossing folder on the light green paper to add some more texture to the layout.

I changed out my shell to this one. The chipboard circle is covered with a piece of the pink and cream paper then tied with a strip of canvas.  I added one of my stick pins to the canvas. I wanted to use the alphabet stickers and our initials, but just did not like the way that looked so I left them off and added one of the swirls from the alphabet sticker sheet at the of the title.

I cut my title out of the textured green cardstock and placed it so that it went across both pages.  I distressed all the edges and inked them, continuing my challenge of "Distressing",  then inked them.

I added a little bit more of the embossed paper to this side of the layout, just small strips tucked in behind and between the photos. I didn't have the any coins, so I used the buttons that I had in my challenge kit and threaded them with some embroidery yarn. (I haven't gone to penny machine where they smash it since the kids were little so I'll have to remember to do that on the next trip.) I really like the way this turned out and the pink in the stripe paper is not to "pink".
