Meow, Purr, Baa - Thinking of You cards

I won the Meow, Purr, Baa stamp set from Unity Stamps a couple of weeks ago and decided that it was perfect for the Operation Write Home Sketch #258. I'm using my July Counterfeit Kit with the papers from The Paper Studio pack.

I stamped each image twice then colored with colored pencils and gamsol.

I hand cut the banners and varied the sizes, so I didn't follow the sketch exactly.

I was using up some scraps of cardstock.

I inked around the white mat just a little bit.

Then stamped and matted the sentiment.

All 8 cards are for Operation Write Home.  I want to make sure that everyone who does send cards to Operation Write Home their deadline for receiving them is August 1, 2015 and then they will be closing their doors.

Thanks - cards

I used Sketch #240 from Operation Write Home for a couple of thanks cards.

I embossed the blue paper and used pattern paper instead of a stamped image.

After I got the cards altogether I realized I left off the bottom piece of paper.

Well I have another batch of cards to share with you, a small batch of 19 cards in the green colors.

I used Sketch #198 from Operation Write Home to make 4 cards.

I pulled out some different colors of crewel yarn to add the side instead of ribbon.

Two "hello" cards using sketch #202 from Operation Write Home and using a punch for the sentiment.

Love Cards - Operation Write Home

I'm catching up on some posting - I though this one already did but I must not have finalized it.
So I made 23 cards using up the heart and pink papers from The Paper Studio 4 Seasons .. paper pack for Operation Write Home.  I picked a pink cardstock from Recollections as my main background.

 Four Love stamped cards.

I used the same layout from the Fall colors Thank you card.

4 heart punched cards.

This one took forever with the mini squares. I didn't use a punch but I think I will make a template for my mini square punch for next time.  This is why there is only 2 cards.

I pulled out a scrap of shiny bronze cardstock and embossed it to add to this set of cards for a total of three cards.

I used one of my favorite heart stamps from Unity Kit of the Month for a total of 6 cards

All 23 cards for Operation Write Home.  I want to make sure that everyone who does send cards to Operation Write Home their deadline is August 1, 2015 and then they will be closing their doors.

Love Cards

I used my July Counterfeit Kit - Summer Morning to make a couple of cards for the Friends with Flair Challenge.

I had this already stamped but needed to color them in.

I had just a few scraps from the reds so I colored them both in to go with the scraps.

Fall Colors - Cards for Operation Write Home

I started with the fall colors paper from The Paper Studios 4 Seasons paper kit for my card that I'm sending to Operation Write Home.

I have three Thinking of you cards.

Two bird cards with no sentiment.

I have a total of 6 hedgehog cards. I had the devil of a time getting this die to cut through in all the places. It looks so cute but it's a real bear to cut through.  I also mess up my measurements so 5 of the cards have the bigger tan background of the hedgehog.

There are 4 of the you are simple the best. Two of them have brad and the other two is using up some scrap yarn and crewel yarn. The yellow crewel yarn is gone.

Finally there are 6 Thank You cards.

So I made 21 cards using up two sheets three separate pattern papers.  I did not keep track of how much cardstock I used. All of them are stamped on the back and tucked into their envelopes and are now in the box waiting for more to be added.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for everything

I did some assembly line card making for this set of cards.  I embossed part of the front of the card, then layered on the pattern papers. I used markers on the stamps instead of ink and matted it on black cardstock.

I did mat the inside of the cards with the border stripe and white cardstock.

The embossing shows up so much better here.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop - July

Hi everyone and welcome to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop click here, otherwise you should have come from Lesley at Oh! Blog It!.  I do have a complete list below if you get lost along the way. This is a long post as I have completed all three challenges, there are a lot of pictures, and you can click on the pictures to get a close up.

 The challenges this month are:
Challenge #1: Triangles: Use at least 5 triangles on your project.
Challenge #2: Techniques: Combine 3 techniques (or More)
Challenge #3: Create a Panel Card: Try a unique card on a panel design

Challenge #1: Triangles: Use at least 5 triangles on your project:

I did some cruising through Pinterest looking for a triangle sketch and came across this one to use for my inspiration.

I started by framing my photo onto a piece of brown designer paper then adding the blue paper behind it.  The stitching on the sketch reminded me of notebook paper so I used the spiral border punch on the edge.  I then added several triangles on the paper and a little triangle border at the top corner.

I pulled out a bottle of the Color Mist because the sketch had the splatters on it and could not get to spray so I covered my photo and dribbled it on.

My journaling on the back reads: You scored some tickets to see Hank.  This was our third concert to see him and he is still awesome.

Challenge #2: Techniques: Combine 3 techniques (or More)

This was suppose to be for Challenge #1: Triangles but along came Challenge #2: Techniques before I finished and I decided to use it for Challenge #2..  I started by embossing the pink cardstock with a stamp and white embossing powder.  I first tried it with clear embossing powder but did not like the way it turned. I did a sample stamp with white embossing powder and liked it so I flipped the paper over and started over. I think where the stamp and embossing did not quite cover the page just adds character to the paper.

I cut my top triangles and distressed the edges, then stamped on the yellow cardstock, added the banner then tucked some embroidery floss behind it.  I thought the triangles need a bit more at the top of the layout so I used a brown sharpie to go around them.

I used my Cricut to cut the "You and Me", misted some white cardstock and layered it behind.  I did cut another banner for this card.

I added some of the stickers and chipboard pieces along with some flowers that were already die cut.  I did fussy cut around the pink and white flowers and some of the doilies from the pattern paper.

Techniques used on the layout:  Die Cutting - Cricut Cut,  Distressing, Fussy Cutting,  Heat Embossing, Stamping and Tore Edges.

The journaling on the back of the page: We turned on the sprinklers for the first time this year and you asked me to wait a minute, then made your footprint next to mine. "So Sweet".

Challenge #3: Create a Panel Card:

For the image on my card I used the Counterfeited butterflies that I made in this post. Since these cards are going to Operation Write Home the base is a regular card base.

Card #1 front and inside:

I made the panel on the front a size that would hold my butterflies I made earlier.  These are the ones that I wasn't paying any attention to with the direction of the pattern paper when I was cutting them out.  Really my brain was off - I was just looking at the pattern paper with a die cut wing .  I decided that I would use them as a dimensional butterfly.

Card #2 front and inside:

From here you should be heading to Julene at Julene by Design to see what she has created for you. If you get lost along the way I do have the whole hop posted below.
