Hi everyone and welcome to the
Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop. If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop click
here, otherwise you should have come from
Lesley at Oh! Blog It!. I do have a complete list below if you get lost along the way. This is a long post as I have completed all three challenges, there are a lot of pictures, and you can click on the pictures to get a close up.
The challenges this month are:
Challenge #1: Triangles: Use at least 5 triangles on your project.
Challenge #2: Techniques: Combine 3 techniques (or More)
Challenge #3: Create a Panel Card: Try a unique card on a panel design
Challenge #1: Triangles: Use at least 5 triangles on your project:
I did some cruising through
Pinterest looking for a triangle sketch and came across this one to use for my inspiration.
I started by framing my photo onto a piece of brown designer paper then adding the blue paper behind it. The stitching on the sketch reminded me of notebook paper so I used the spiral border punch on the edge. I then added several triangles on the paper and a little triangle border at the top corner.
I pulled out a bottle of the Color Mist because the sketch had the splatters on it and could not get to spray so I covered my photo and dribbled it on.
My journaling on the back reads: You scored some tickets to see Hank. This was our third concert to see him and he is still awesome.
Challenge #2: Techniques: Combine 3 techniques (or More)
This was suppose to be for Challenge #1: Triangles but along came Challenge #2: Techniques before I finished and I decided to use it for Challenge #2.. I started by embossing the pink cardstock with a stamp and white embossing powder. I first tried it with clear embossing powder but did not like the way it turned. I did a sample stamp with white embossing powder and liked it so I flipped the paper over and started over. I think where the stamp and embossing did not quite cover the page just adds character to the paper.
I cut my top triangles and distressed the edges, then stamped on the yellow cardstock, added the banner then tucked some embroidery floss behind it. I thought the triangles need a bit more at the top of the layout so I used a brown sharpie to go around them.
I used my Cricut to cut the "You and Me", misted some white cardstock and layered it behind. I did cut another banner for this card.
I added some of the stickers and chipboard pieces along with some flowers that were already die cut. I did fussy cut around the pink and white flowers and some of the doilies from the pattern paper.
Techniques used on the layout: Die Cutting - Cricut Cut, Distressing, Fussy Cutting, Heat Embossing, Stamping and Tore Edges.
The journaling on the back of the page: We turned on the sprinklers for the first time this year and you asked me to wait a minute, then made your footprint next to mine. "So Sweet".
Challenge #3: Create a Panel Card:
For the image on my card I used the Counterfeited butterflies that I made in this
post. Since these cards are going to Operation Write Home the base is a regular card base.
Card #1 front and inside:
I made the panel on the front a size that would hold my butterflies I made earlier. These are the ones that I wasn't paying any attention to with the direction of the pattern paper when I was cutting them out. Really my brain was off - I was just looking at the pattern paper with a die cut wing . I decided that I would use them as a dimensional butterfly.
Card #2 front and inside:
From here you should be heading to Julene at
Julene by Design to see what she has created for you. If you get lost along the way I do have the whole hop posted below.
