Counterfeit Kit Challenge #1 - Getting Fussy

Today is Challenge #1 On the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog. But first is a quick reminder of our August Inspiration Kit

Pink and Paper Subscription Club - June kit

Challenge #1 - Getting Fussy!

This is what Lisa has to say about the Challente - "The original inspiration kit has some papers that are just shouting out to be fussy cut - banners, larger flowers, butterflies and teeny tiny flowers with labels - even some words! It was a lot of fun to make up a couple of layouts featuring some of these fussy cut items.

Personally, I love to spend some time cutting out elements from my papers to use as embellishments or design items - it's so relaxing and never takes as much time as you think it will! So, I'd love you to embrace the therapeutic side of fussy cutting and get those scissors working! "

I have created two layouts for you this month. In my CKC August 2023 - Heat Wave. The story behind the Wreaths for Doug. My boys know just what to say to guilt me into doing something. He tells me "Mom, you know how you made a wreath for David for every month, are you going to do that for me since I now have my own house." When Doug was living in Minot, North Dakota I made him a Christmas Wreath and a Halloween Wreath, I guess I was slacking.

I had a piece of this paper in my Kit this month - Pinkfresh - Good Times - Seize the Day. It was not a whole 12x12. I fussy cut out the portion of the flower paper that was remaining for this layout.

For my second layout I included a couple of stamp sets that are new to me in my CKC August 2023 - Heat Wave. I did know if I would use any of the words that was included in the stamp set.

I stamped the floral onto scrap pattern paper and cut them out. To start with I thought I would use them on the previous layout, cut it just wasn't working. So, I started another layout.

I am using this sketch from Kraft + Facebook community for my layout.

Then I brought in some lace, a button and yarn. I know my journaling is not complete. But I have it saved and will print when my printer is back to working.

Journaling reads: I made the March and Easter Wreaths at the same time for Doug. At this point I did not ask him which one he liked better and just picked them up when they were on sale. I could not resist the bunny on the Easter Wreath.

Forgeries on the Fourth

Today is Forgeries on the Fourth. I have a quick forgery for you that you can customize for any page.

A revies of our inspiration kit this month:

Pink and Paper Subscription Club - June kit

Scalloped Pattern Paper - Now you don't need to do the whole sheet of different scallops. I choose to make mine one color and I also made different sized based on my punches my punches.

I punched the circles from scrap paper, glued them to another strip of paper. The white medium white banners are from a scalloped circle punch. the yellow is a 2" circle and then I found a Stampin' Up scallop border punch.

I plan on coloring the white ones when I add to my layout.

My last set of scallops are using the Stampin' Up Curly Label punch and a couple of more scraps of paper.

I punched out the red stripe paper - 4 of the labels. Using a piece of white paper (another scrap) I lined up the edges and overlapped the sided.

I am using this on a card. I cut my white paper the length that I wanted based on my card.

I stamped an image from Unity Stamp Company KOTM -May 2023 {bloom in color} to finish off my card. This can easily be done on a layout or under a photo mat. I could even add an additional row of black ones behind the red or have less of the red showing.

Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome to another month of Counterfeit Kit Challenge reveal and blog hop. Master Forger Lisa is our host this month and our Guest Designer is Clair Rigby. She is a dear friend of CKC and former Master Forger, She can be found here - Clair Rigby! Here's a little bit about Clair.

"Hello! Hello! I'm Clair, I live in the NW of the UK with my lovely fella and two, lovely, little black cats. I am blessed to have a little craft room in the attic, where I can retreat whenever I need a little bit of me time.

I created my first Counterfeit Kit in 2011, which means that the ladies on the DT have been in my life for almost a third of it! I was lucky to be offered a spot on the DT in October 2015 and, with a few 'life breaks' here and there, remained on the team until 2021. I used up a lot of my stash :)

I've loved to see an influx of new followers over in the Counterfeit Kit Community Facebook Group and, even if I can't be there as often as I'd like to be, it's such a source of inspiration for my own crafting. I'm really looking forward to my month as a GD and can't wait to see everyone's kits and makes!

Clair xx"

This is what Lisa has to say about the kit. "I've chosen another new kit club for August - this time from the European online shop Pink and Paper. It's run by Flóra who has designed and worked with some of the big names including designing the latest Pinkfresh Studio collection, Lovely Blooms. Her kit club is a little different - it's a private membership which includes two online live workshops to create pages together using the kit elements - and of course I had to give a go! I love it when something is coming out of my corner of the world!

Apart from the fact that I think new kit clubs should be applauded in general, I think this is an interesting mix of colours and motifs as well as being a kit that can be stretched as you need it - stronger colours can be picked out for colder seasons, lots of florals and summer colours for us in the middle of summer. "

Pink and Paper Subscription Club - June kit

Now for my August CKC - Heat Wave.  This month I'm starting again with a Pinkfresh kit I bought and never finished - "Good Times". I have a lot of the embellishments left, two  full sheets of my not favorite paper and a bunch of scraps.

Next is a set of random papers I again want to get used up. I had to include the gingham paper in similar colors and the rest is more of a teal and turquoise colors.

I will be bringing in a lot of cardstock - both white and colors and using my scrap pile. My scrap pile is out of control at the moments.

As for embellishments - I have brought in my circle punches and dies. I'm keeping out the dies and stamps from last month. This month I will be adding in some new to me stamps I received from my sister. She was gifted a box of stamps, a few with dies, a couple of embossing folders and other craft supplies. She is not a paper crafter. We are video calling and she hold up and item, asks what it is and what is it used for, would I use it.

I am now digging through a box of surprise supplies like a kid at Christmas. Here is just a few of the supplies I will be using this month.

Thanks for stopping by.
