December 2020 - Forged Photo Prompts! Day 4

This December our CKC master Forger Design Team members will be providing a simple one word daily photo prompt, easy-peasy in this busy month. In the spirit of counterfeiting a kit, we are twisting the photo prompt into a scavenger hunt! The object is to take a quick peek through your camera roll for a photo that satisfies the prompt. A side benefit is perhaps, training ourselves to see more in the photo than the obvious people, places, or things.

The Counterfeit Kit Challenge this month is a photo scavenger hunt with Day 4's photo prompt  of Faith! On the Facebook Group I uploaded a picture of the horizon I had taken earlier this year.

but I've had this photo in my scrap pile that I really want to scrap.  As I was putting away my CKC February 2020 - Love Letters Kit I realized that the "dream" cut a part would be perfect for a layout with this photo.

I had the Petaloo Flowers in the kit, the dark blue paper from DCWV's Tajamahal Stack (2009), so I just added the yellow pattern paper from the Genevieve Collection (2018), the bottle cap, the DIY yellow labels and Maggi Holmes Flourish Tassels

I love the way this layout turned out. Just a few pieces of paper and embellishments.   Now I can officially put the rest of the embellishments away.

Thank you for stopping by.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog - December 2020 - Forged Photo Prompts! Day 2

A side benefit is perhaps, training ourselves to see more in the photo than the obvious people, places or things.

The Counterfeit Kit Challenge this month is a photo scavenger hunt with Day 2's photo prompt of  Nature!. I picked this photo of Lake Meade in Nevada for my photo.

So many stories to tell with this one photo of nature - first time to Lake Mead, Nevada, first time to Las Vegas, celebrating a wedding, visiting an old friend. Four little stories from one simple Nature photo.

Now for the layout I did. I pulled in some scraps from my CKC February 2020 - Love Letters kit to make this double page layout of the wedding we attended. in the Red Rock Canyon in Nevada. This layout was a challenge for me as I was never happy with the background papers. - they always seemed wrong for the background of the Red Rocks. Now I love the DCWV Tajamahal Stack paper that I used, I just cut the border off and the damask pattern on the paper doesn't seen to clash with the Red Rocks.

The red borders and die cut hearts are from a scrap that I had left over. One of the borders is pieced together as I didn't have long enough piece and the hearts are die cut in the size that would fit onto to the scrap.

The large heart on the left and the heart on the right are all missing a piece as the paper was just not large enough for the die, but it's all covered up by the flowers and tucked under the pictures.

I added a few of the flowers that were included in the kit, a couple of brads one of the wooden hearts and a date label. The heart cluster at the bottom is the only one that has the brad in it as I only had two of the sparkly brads left.

Here is the Right side of the layout

And the Left side of the layout.

The second set of layouts is of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. I'm using my Nature picture on this layout, it is the photo on the top.

I had a sheet of the flower paper from Bo Bunny Genevieve Collection from the CKC February 2020- Love Letters kit.

I added in the stripe paper and yellow cardstock and few die cut leaves.

The third layout used the Tim Holtz Correspondence paper pad, Kraft cardstock and a piece of red cardstock. The pictures are on a scrap piece of Stampin' Up Botanical Gazette paper with photo corners out of brown cardstock.

From my one photo prompt I was able to finish three of the stories and finish off my CKC February 2020 - Love Letters kit. Three of the four stories from one beautiful picture of Nature.

Thanks for stopping by

Bees and Mint

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #2 is all about the bees! In our inspiration kit was the cutest little bees, and we were to be inspired by them in some way - "think bees, hives, honey, recipes, etc. If you have a bee photo scrap it, Maybe you have a honey recipe you can scrap about or has someone been stung by a bee?"

This last summer I captured a few photos of the bumble bees on my mint.

I was on the patio gathering a few herbs for dinner and saw them working away, so I snapped a few pictures of them. I  miss the fresh honey and stop at Farmer's Markets when I see them selling the honey now days.

Using the Stampin Up Paper I cut the inside out of the bee paper to make a frame,  the border is 1"
The bees are from the Cricut Cartridge Kate's ABC's from my Forgeries on the fourth and the honeycomb is from the die that I included in my kit. I wasn't sure how I was going to use the honeycomb die as it only cuts the holes in the paper, it isn't a separate die.

I used the die with black cardstock, add the yellow cardstock behind it and fussy cut the outside layers. I then tucked it behind the bee border and added my bee on top. the two different colors of yellows for the bees are the same colors I used on the honeycomb.

I even added some of the honeycomb to my picture like a photo corner.

Yes I had to do some fuzzy cutting but I love the way it turned out.

All of the bees but the top right one is on craft foam. with each bee cluster I've add yellow enamel dots, black enamel rhinestones and yellow sequins from 28 Lilac Lane - Spring Butterflies mix.

Now hop on over the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog to see what Leslie, Laura, Shannon and Lisa have to inspire with their bee story. If you didn't already see the Forgeries on the Fourth click here to check out what inspired us this month.

Hello everyone! It's time for another reveal on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and Julene picked something a little bit different from our normal inspiration kits.  Here's the description:

"Fall under the dark, romantic spell of Darcelle by Frank Garcia for Prima. This mesmerizing and delicately elegant collection is filled with indigo blues, boysenberry purples, and medallion golds for creating projects that will leave you speechless. Design a mixed media panel love-filled card, or gorgeous notebook pages filled with vintage charm and beautiful accents. Doesn't that sound amazing? The inspiration is Tres Jolie kit from November Kit based on the Prima Darcelle Collection. Here is the link to them but scroll down to find it..

You can find the pieces in the collection Separately on Scrapbook.com  here and they've added white paper doilies and chipboard vines, a box of wood veneer. Surprisingly there is no Alphas in this kit, but please feel free to add your own.
