Camp Out

I'm playing catch up with some layouts I did not get posted during the year. This layout is for my oldest son they had gone camping at Afton State Park

I used the image from the Graphically Speaking Cartridge for the path - I cut it in half for the trail and layered it behind the photo mat.  The "camp out" is cut using the craft foam and my Xyron sticker maker. I have a couple of trees pop up with Zots. The mountains were cut twice one in gray then again in white for the now . I know there are not mountains in Afton but I really liked the way they looked on the page.

I used the mini heart punch on the tent, then used a piece of the netting I patched his tent with. Even though I patched the tent after they went camping it's just a nice touch and a small reminder.

Happy Thanksgiving

Page 8: If you are following the tutorial, you will note that I put this page up side down while I was binding it.  It will still work so I'm not worried about it and if I was giving it away how would anyone know.

Snow Day

I made this layout for a challenge at ScrapBookClasses, a group on Yahoo.  We were required to use this Sketch from Page Maps.

I'm still in winter mode even though we do not have any snow remaining.

I used Design Studio to both design the layout and do a little bit welding.  I wanted to use the bracket from the Elegant Edges cartridge so I welded that to a rectangle from George to create the upper background photo mat.  I just didn't want to do scallops.

I did ink all the edges with either Sea Lavender or Dark Blue except for the snowflake and the white part of the sled.  I really like how the Sea Lavender ink looks on the kraft and brown cardstock.

I used the sled from the Joys of the Season cartridge for the journal spot, and just love how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Winter Woodland Skating Layout

The Bitten By the Bug 2 has a challenge going on that uses the Winter Woodland Cricut Cartridge.  Since I have that cartridge I thought I would do an 8x8 layout.  I have lots of fond memories of skating.  We didn't have rink, on the farm we used the overflow from the stock tanks or the stock tanks themselves.

I stamped with clear embossing ink the polka dots and used clear embossing powder. I stamped the two smaller snowflakes from the Snow Swirled set on the pink cardstock then inked the edges of white cardstock.  The skates are cut out at 2" and layered.  I hand cut the bows off of them because I wanted to add my own.  I used some embroidery floss that is not separated for the laces and used glossy accents to glue them to the skate.

I used the lined stamp from Notes and Details to make a journal spot and stamped with the small snowflake on the side.  Each page is similar in design I just changed the sizes a little bit.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love Birds

My guys had given me a 12x24 mat for my Cricut last year and I have not used it. While I was out picking up a new heat gun I also picked up the red and black vinyl to do this project.

The hardest part was getting my Cricut to cut. I had not changed the setting to 12x24 on the Cricut itself and kept getting an error. The inside of my frame measures 13 1/2" x 10 1/2". I used George to make this size of a rectangle and placed my shapes inside it to get the right size. I cut the birds separately and did not weld them to the branch. I just a piece of batting for the background as I don't have paper this size and couldn't find a piece of material I wanted to use.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nutcracker from 2009

Every year DH gets me a nutcracker, he wraps it up and puts it under the Christmas Tree. Sometimes he doesn't find one until the day before Christmas, sometimes he finds them right away. This year I will be taking pictures of each and every one and making a scrapbook page for their own album.

Here is the one I received from him last year. Last year we opened presents early - a couple of days before we went to Montana. The only decorations that we put up were the Christmas wreath on the front door, a live one from the Boy Scouts, and the 5 Christmas wreaths that go on the outside lights on the front of our home. So this guy never got wrapped up and put in with the other decorations and he was easy to grab quickly and take a picture of.

I used red line tape behind the ornament back, sprinkled glitter on the tape and then glued the ornament front on top. The leaves have pop up dots behind them so that the ornaments look like they are hanging. I'm starting my album at 8 1/2 x 11 but I don't know if I will keep that size or not. It's a work in progress so I'll just have to do a few more pages then decide.

Thanks for stopping by.

Click here for the cut file. Please note that I was having issues cutting the blue photo mat so please make sure the they are welded together before you cut the.

Today is the last day for the 30 Days of Christmas Cards and here is my last card. If you are looking for Day 29 please scroll down as I have a couple of posts today. The cardinal and branch are cut in white cardstock then I used stickles to give some pop.

I used a seam binding for may ribbon on this card. The frame is from A Child's Year and the sentiment has pop dots behind it.

I'll post the cut file as soon as I can get 4shared to work. The file will have both the berry branch and the pine cone branch.

Reindeer Shaped Card - Day 16

If you are looking for Day 15 please scroll down, there is several posts for today. I made another shaped card - I had to use the other half of my mat from Day 15. You could always use the mats as photo mats on a layout to go with your card.

The embossing doesn't show up to well in the photo but it is there.

I stamped twice with the snowflake to get the different shades.

Thanks for stopping by.

Dove Shaped Card - Day 15

If you are looking for Day 14 please scroll down, there will be a couple of posts today. The challenge for Christmas Card Challenge Week # 50 is to make a shaped card. I selected the card from A Child's Year cartridge. There is a bunch of card shapes on this cartridge and I hardly ever use them.

I stamped the image on white cardstock and mounted it on a piece of pattern paper.
I made a smaller mat from the card, cut in half and inked the edges. The snowflakes are stamped twice before reinking the stamp.

Reindeer - Day 12

If you are looking for Day 11, please scroll down as there will be several posts today and this is the second one. I used the Cricut and a pre-made note card for this one. I don't know what the name of the set these cards came from but I decided I needed to use them up. It makes the process just a little bit quicker when using pre-made cards.

Add Image
I use the Reindeer on the Christmas Noel cartridge for this card. The reindeer is cut from the DCWV shinny stack and is a bronze in color. The shadow really makes it stand out. I only embossed the top portion of the background.

I used my punch to dress up the inside of this card and the small narrow piece at the top is the extra when punching. I did not stamp a sentiment as this one will have a written note in it.

Thanks for stopping by.

I printed this holly bunch onto white cardstock put it through my Xyron to get the back sticky. I then applied glossy accents and let it dry.

Life is a matter of moments . . .

Just a quick 2 page 12x12 layout I made that is going into the girls' box for Christmas. I used all but one of the stamps in this set for the layout. I cut out of cardstock "2010" from the Winter Woodland cartridge and glued to the embossed piece at the bottom.

Since I centered my background squares when I cut them out, I used the border that was left behind for the second page. I use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to help with the placement of the stamped images.
Thanks for stopping by.

Mini Album

I used #10 envelopes folded in half to make the pages. I inked the edges of the envelopes, cut the tops off and glued paper on the front, inside, and back. I used black card stock for the background of each photo mat and changed the accent color of the photo mats. The stars are cut from George and are placed like tabs on each photo mat.

The inside cover has a wooden birdie, the leaves are from Home Accents and the photo mat is from Accent Essentials.

For the front of page 1 the photo mat is from the Winter Wonderland cartridge.

On the inside of page 1 I used a half a circle and photo mat cut from Accent Essentials. I also covered another little wooden birdie.

On the back of page one is a piece cut from Fabulous Finds. I stapled the ribbon onto each side of it the piece and added a few of the candy bonbon circles to the top and bottom.

On the front of page two I used a star mesh I made using Design Studio and George. I add a few blue rhinestones to the corner of the journaling mat. On the bottom of the corner I rounded the corners.
The inside of page 2 has ribbon glued to the top and bottom of the pages. I've added buttons on top of the ribbon. The hearts are from George and I used pop dots behind them.. I've also a heart to each of the journals.

The back of page 2 has another star mesh cut file using the George Cartridge. I added a few rhinestone to the top of the white mat.

Page 3 has a cute little wooden birdie with a few accents. The branch on the left is from Home Accents and the branch on the right is from Accent Essentials.
The inside has a few more hears on pop up dots and another frame from Accent Essentials.

The back page has a variety of hearts on it along with a stamped journaling tag.

Here is page 4. The photo mat is from Accent Essentials and has a few of the candy bonbon stars at the top of it.

The inside has another wooden birdie that I've covered in paper, sanded and inked the sides. I've use a small gray pearl accent for the eye.

The leaf border was another cut file I made from Walk in My Garden cartridge. I just glued the border on top of the scallop mat.
Here is the last set of pages for this album. I have a piece of acetate behind the photo frame on this page. The photo frame was cut from Accent Essentials.

I've glued the ribbon to the top and bottom. The scalloped mats were are made with Design Studio. I welded circles and squares together to create the mat, and are inserted under the ribbon. Each scallop has a little blue candy bonbon star on it.
These mats were cut from Accent Essentials. I've used an eyelet to hold them together and scored the top one so it will fold up easily.
